Definition of a Tool Box Talk
INTRODUCTION
Tool Box Talks are a key element in the safe execution of work tasks and activities.
They allow two important functions to take place:
1 - They allow the person undertaking the Tool Box Talk to consider all aspects of the task, the work site and the work party prior to any work being undertaken.
2 - Through a structured meaningful Tool Box Talk they further allow the work party to fully understand the task to be undertaken with its attendant hazards, risks and controls as well as offering a conduit via questioning sessions for feedback.TBT should not be undertaken lightly nor should they be impromptu. Whether formal or informal a degree of planning will always be required prior to the giving of a TBT.
