Special congratulations to Meet Director Karl Fretwell, Race Secretary Cherie Gregory, Race Committee members Michael Dine, Margaret Dine, Olivia Fretwell, Nadia Featherstone, Jessica Walker & David J. Fitzpatrick on a very professionally run meet. The Social Fundraising Team, led by Olivia Fretwell of Nadia Feather- stone, Margaret Dine, Bronwyn Ellison, Rachel Heaslip & Sally Philp, ran a profita- ble fundraising campaign as well as kept the volunteers nourished and hydrated. Thanks also to Troy Ellison who designed and prepared the swimmer’s time cards which increased the efficiency of getting the results out, Darren Stein who actively sought sponsors for our meet and to Sue Heaslip for keeping us updated with the latest developments via the website and newsletter. We certainly could not miss mentioning our BBQ crew of Michael Dine, Ian Gregory and Bronwyn Ellison who worked tirelessly at the BBQ all day in the searing heat. The success of our carnival was largely due to the enormous effort of the volunteers - all 40 odd of you. Congratulations to all club swimmers and their families who proudly wore club apparel at yesterday’s meet. The “sea of RIPPLES” was certainly a sight to behold and certainly reflected in the atmosphere and excitement of the day.

In the coming weeks, we will be recognising the efforts of the many who contributed, both inside and outside the pool. It was a great day, congratulations to all who contributed to the success of our carnival meet.

Club Championships card entry packs are now available. The cost of Distance/Age Champion-ships entries will be $2.00 per swim to a maximum of $10.00 for all swims. AGE for all Champion-ships will be as at 24th January 2011. Please check your Summer Book for more information.

Farewell Ripples Leisure Centre General Manager Erik Henricksen

Last Friday, Ripples Leisure Centre General Manager Erik Henricksen retired. We, at Ripples St Marys Swimming Club wish Erik the very best of health and happiness as he embarks on this new phase of his life. During his time at Ripples, Erik has been a keen supporter of our club and we thank him for his assistance and support of our swimmers.

Ripples St Marys Swimming Club has built up a strong partnership with Ripples Leisure Centre over a number of years and we look forward to continuing to devel-opment this relationship and partnership with the newly appointed Ripples Leisure Centre General Manager Greg Crawford who will be introduced next week.

“Swimmers under the age of sixteen years

must have adequate supervision (by a person aged sixteen years or older) in attendance for the duration of club nights or carnivals.

Any swimmers being identified in attend-ance at either a carnival or on club night without adequate supervision, will not be allowed to compete until his or her parent carer arrives to assume the supervisory responsibility for that swimmer.”
