CAPS LOCK

LAST GAME - CHICAGO: The Steel tallied their highest goal total of the season in an 11-5 win against the Madison Capitols on Friday night at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena, the team’s sixth consecutive victory. Chicago notched a six-goal second period, their highest-scoring frame of the season, all within a span of 10:15. The 11-5 win was the first time Chicago has reached the 11-goal mark in a game since Feb. 16, 2007. Jack Babbage and Erik Middendorf both tallied two-goal nights in the win while netminder Ian Shane turned away 24 Madison shots.

LAST GAME - MADISON: The Capitols fell 11-5 to the Steel on Friday night despite scoring two shorthanded goals. The Madison penalty killing unit went a perfect 6-for-6 (100%) on the night. Ricky Lyle, Stepan Pokorny, Verners Egle, Ryan Kirwan and Kristoff Papp were the goal scorers for the home team as Garrett Mackay stopped 10 shots and Simon Latkoczy made 19 saves in a relief appearance between the pipes.

AGAINST THE CAPITOLS: Chicago has a 21-6-2-1 regular-season mark against Madison all-time. In home contests, the Steel have posted a 10-3-1-0 record against the Capitols. In three matchups this season, Chicago has gone 3-0-0-0 outscoring Madison by a 23-7 margin combined.

DE ST. HUNDRED: With a goal and two assists in the win on Friday night, Chicago forward Matty De St. Phalle eclipsed the career 100-point plateau in the USHL. The Glencoe, Ill., native has recorded 101 points (31G, 70A) in 137 regular-season games played in the league. This year, the University of Wisconsin commit ranks second on the team with 23 points (12G, 11A) and is just one goal shy of matching his career-best in a single season.

FANTASTIC SAM: Northeastern University commit Sam Colangelo tallied a goal and picked up two helpers on Friday night. In his last eight games, the Stoneham, Mass., native has charted 15 points (8G, 7A).

MIDDY CITY: In just his third game as a member of the Chicago Steel, Erik Middendorf charted his career-high with a four-point (2G, 2A) effort on Nov. 22. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native now has five points (3G, 2A) through three games this year.

ALL CAPS: Ryan Kirwan tallied one of the Capitols’ two shorthanded goals in the loss on Friday. All of the rookie’s 11 points (4G, 7A) have come on special teams this season with three power-play tucks and seven helpers with the man advantage. Madison captain Kristoff Papp has netted three goals over his last two outings entering Saturday’s action. The Budapest, Hungary, native ranks third in the USHL this season with 63 total shots on goal.
