of Eushta ( ru ), asked for the Tsar's rotection against !irghi" #andits$ %1& The Tsar sent

&00 ossacks under the command of asi*+ omich T+rkov ( ru ) and Gavrii* -vanovich .isemsk+ to

construct a fortress on the #ank of the Tom /iver , over*ooking what wou*d #ecome the cit+ of Tomsk$
