DESCRIPTION

A proposal to renovate the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TOTUS) in Bremerton, Washington's Ivy Green Cemetery was started by a group of residents in Bremerton who noticed the lack of maintenance, care, and upkeep at this memorial and came together to improve this site. The project began in the Spring of 2012 with the goal to raise funds, donated materials, and labor to renovate the memorial in honor of the many unknown men and women who have given the ultimate.

The current memorial site has sidewalks that do not

make a connection to the road, are not level, and the

background behind the tomb is local homes and a

chain link fence.

Project

Background The effort to renovate the

existing Tomb of the

Unknown Soldier was first

initiated in the Spring of

2012 and organized by

Bremerton resident Todd

Best, to inspire local

residents and businesses

of Bremerton, Washington

to come together and

renovate the memorial.

Until Todd took action and

gathered together the

community around this

project, the memorial was

constantly overgrown with

weeds, was dirty, and

lacked any sense of honor

due to a lack of

maintenance.
