executive’s decision to close the animation studio.

• Hanna and Barbera created their own animation studio called Hanna-Babera Productions.

1961–1962: GENE DEITCH/REMBRANDT FILMS CARTOON

• In 1960, MGM wanted to produce new Tom and Jerry.

• 1961, Gene Deitch became the new director.

• Deitch only saw a few shorts of the original Tom and Jerry.

• His films were consider unusual and considered to be the worst.

1963–1967: CHUCK JONES/SIB TOWER 12

• 1963, MGM turned to Chuck Jones to be the new director.

• After being fired from Warner Brothers Cartoons, he created his own animation studio called SIB Tower 12.

• 34 more episodes• Changed Tom and Jerry’s

appearances.

1975-1977:SECOND HANNA-BARBERA PRODUCTIONS/TURNER ENTERTAINMENT CARTOON

• Hanna and Barbera reunited with Tom and Jerry in 1975.

• 48 more episodes.• Actions for Children’s

Television Act created new broadcasting rules.

• Tom and Jerry became nonviolent pals who went on adventures together.
