Term 4 Week 10 Thursday December 15 2016 Together We Grow GROWTH, RESPECT, OPPORTUNITY, WORTH Welcome to All Dear Parents/Guardians THANKYOU What a wonderful two weeks of celebrations had by all: Carol’s Night, Graduation and P&C Awards. A big THANK YOU to Mrs Christine Thomas for her organisation of the Carol’s Night. Thank you also to our students, staff, parent and community helpers, who without them, this event would not have been as successful as it was. Sausage Sizzles, decorations, carolling and dance made the night a wonderful success and a great community event. Thank you! Congratulations to our Year 6 students on their wonderful Graduation Assembly. Students, we are extremely proud of your achievements, perseverance and successes throughout 2016. Congratulations to all of our Graduating students and award winners from yesterday’s ceremony. Congratulations also on your exceptional behaviour on the year 6 excursion yesterday. Graduating students, we all wish you the best in the new year ahead and hope that your time at high school is just as memorable as your time at Thornlie Primary School. Congratulations to our talented students who were recipients of much deserved P&C book awards at our last assembly. Students, you have worked hard throughout the year and we are all very proud of you! Thank you also to our P&C for their sponsorship of this event. STUDENT REPORTS (SEMESTER 2) Semester 2 school reports were sent home with your child on Tuesday afternoon. Please take the time to sit with your child and discuss the report with them. NETBALL PROGRAM THORNLIE SHS Congratulations to Shari, Emma, Sheridan and Victoria who will take up their netball scholarships at Thornlie SHS in 2017. These are well deserved and we wish you every success. RUGBY PROGRAM Congratulations to Kaea also for being accepted in to the 2016 Rugby program at Thornlie SHS. We wish you every success. STAFF FAREWELL I would like to sincerely thank and acknowledge staff who have worked at our school in 2016 who will not be returning in 2017. Thank you to Ms Wisson, Miss Gower, Mrs Berryman, Ms Meyn, Mrs Baker. We wish you the very best in 2017. NEW SCHOOL GARDENER Welcome to Mr Rush our newly appointed fulltime gardener. Mr Rush is very excited about joining our school and its community and we are very pleased to have him on board. THANK YOU TO STAFF Thank you to all of the staff at Thornlie PS in 2016 for your dedication to the school and its students. Your efforts are appreciated. PARENT HELPER / VOLUNTEER THANK YOU I would like to sincerely thank all of our parents, carers and community volunteers for the contributions they have made over the course of 2016 to our school. Your hard work and support is much appreciated. Thank you also to the members of our P&C and School Council who kindly volunteer their time to support our school and its students and staff. EARLY YEARS PLAYGROUND MAJOR UPGRADE In 2017 the Early Years playground will receive a major upgrade. The DRAFT plans and concept designs are currently being prepared BY Emerge Landscape Designs in order for work to commence next year. I look forward to bringing you a progress report on this in 2017. Plans are also being prepared for an overhaul and improvement to the main school courtyard area in 2017. CLASS LISTS & SCHOOL 2017 Class lists will be published on Monday 30 January from 1pm. Students commence school on Wednesday 1 February 2017. Parents, please note that all Year 1 students will be located in classrooms 1, 2 & 3 next year. Kindy and Pre-Primary students will continue to be located in the Early Years buildings as per usual. The 2017 Christmas Carols In the School showcased our guitar group, advanced recorder group, singing students from Rooms 2, 3 and 4, junior choir, senior hip hop group, senior choir and staff choir; not to mention the acrostic poetry talent from Room 6 demonstrated throughout the night. Thanks to all the amazing students, staff and helpers that made our Christmas Carols Night the best ever.
