M ax Lucado in his book

Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear

wrote, “Questions can make hermits out of us, driving us into hiding. Yet the cave has no answers. Christ distributes courage through community; he dissipates doubts through fellowship. He never deposits all knowledge in one person but distributes pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to many. When you interlock your understanding with mine, and we share our discoveries, when we mix and mingle, confess and pray, Christ speaks.” This week we are focusing on “Community and Fellowship” in our month of prayer emphasis. We cannot be the church Christ calls us to be if we do not have a community of faith in fellowship with one another. Out of community comes hope, forgiveness, courage, faith and all the attributes God calls us to as followers of Christ. The

church is a community of believers set apart for service to God. As a conclusion to this week we will gather in the Family Life Center for a time of fellowship prior to a combined Sunday School class of all departments Youth through Senior Adults. Our focus will be on who are we as a community of faith in Mechanicsville Baptist Church and where is God leading us to in the future? Following the Sunday School we will gather in the Sanctuary for one service of worship to celebrate Christ’s church and our commitment to it. We will also have the privilege of being witnesses to the baptism of one of our own. What better way to celebrate our time together than by celebrating with a new believer through baptism? I hope you will plan to be part of this special day as we discern and learn together. As Max Lucado reminds us we all are an important piece of the puzzle! ~ Pastor Tim

Game On! VBS a Great Success!

What a great Vacation Bible School we had this year! Each night we had approximately 60 children with us, playing and learning about God in amazing ways.

Rumor has it that each night our very own Chuck Taylor and his assistant, Sarah showed up to bring fun times of learning about missions and practical ways to apply what they were learning in their every day lives. THANK YOU to everyone who made this a great experience. So far, we’ve col-lected $1,091.77 towards our bus for the folks in the DR.

Softball Girl (Sarah Wells), “drove” our special bus that made its way around each night to collect the children’s donations. ç

Chuck and Softball Girl led our opening rallies with an adventure each night.

The bus fund winners were rewarded by “pie-ing” Chuck & Softball Girl. ç

“Chuck Taylor” & “Softball Girl” Hit it BIG at VBS!

CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST

The children’s mission groups are sponsoring the following missionary for the month of August. Please note that items being collected must be NEW. Thank you for your support! Collection box-es will be located in the vestibule and FLC.

Rjan Shahi 8727 58th Ave. Elmhurst, NY 11373

Items being collected are pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, crayons, markers, colored pencils, and any other school supplies.

These items will be distributed among the Nepali community in New York City. Immigrant parents can’t bear the burden of school demands, so as a church we would like to help them provide the school supplies needed by their children.
