Good Afternoon and Welcome to Longshaw Street for today's North West Men’s League Premier Division tie. Our oppo-nents are Ashton Bears and I extend a warm welcome to the players officials and supporters who have made the journey today. Win, Lose or draw I hope they will join us back at Bank Quay Sports Club for a drink after the game. Our opponents arrive for today’s game, the first game of the second Summer Season and coincidentally the first of hopefully many of our new Match Day Programmes. The long over due development of our changing facilities are almost complete, and although it would have been nice to play a team such as Ashton Bears, who have climbed through the lower leagues at a similar pace to ourselves, would have been quite fitting.

Many Thanks to our

Main Sponsors for 2013

Liverpool Lions 18 - 30 Bank Quay Bulls

The under 16s got their 2013 league campaign off to a winning start against a physical Liverpool side, the early exchanges were pretty even with Quay coming up with a couple of errors but with their first attack Liam Hill raced in the corner from a superb pass from Matty Hesketh. It wasn’t long though before Lpool were level following some poor defence. The rest of the first half then belonged to Quay with Matty Hesketh diving over from dummy half followed shortly after by Reece Barry who sidestepped his way to line to make it 18-6 at half time. In a scrappy second half where it was evident the referee was keen to keep Liverpool in the game Quay scored further tries through the impressive Liam Cook on his comeback from injury and also Ash Hickman who raced out of dum-my half 20 metres off his own line and evaded several defenders before finish-ing the scoring. Tries: R Barry, M Hesketh, A Hickman, L Cook, L Hill Goals: M Hesketh 5/5 MOM Pts L Cook x2 & A Hickman x1
