• Conserves maintenance resources by using least cost analysisinvestigations on a continuous basis.

• Continuously evaluate all suppliers for timely deliveries and acceptablequality of their products.

• Works as a Team Player with all groups within the facility.• Provide management the input needed to schedule equipment repairs

based on the availability of parts.• Provide management with accurate and timely budget reports on a

predetermined schedule.• Accurately track all PM schedules, enter maintenance labor and

completion of all work orders and PM’s using the MP2 program.• Be an active member of one of the safety related teams and attend

meetings.• Shipping and receiving of all supplies and tracking of

shortages/overages and report to the supplier and management forfollow up.

• Monitor Min/Max levels of the inventory to ensure that parts arestocked correctly based on lead times and usages.

(NAPSI)—If you or some-one you know has type 2diabetes, you know howhard it can be to loseweight, especially for peo-ple on insulin—but it canbe made easier. In a newstudy of a protein-rich mealreplacement, people withtype 2 diabetes were ableto lose weight and lowertheir daily insulin doses.The meal replacement,called Almased, is madefrom fermented soy, yogurtand honey and contains noartificial flavors, fillers,added sugars or preserva-tives.

Type 2 is the most commonform of diabetes and isstrongly associated withweight gain. Nearly six in10 Americans with type 2diabetes are obese andnearly all of the rest areoverweight. Loweringweight and adoptinghealthy eating and exercise

habits are proven ways toimprove diabetes control.

“The patients in our studylost about 9 percent of theirbody weight in 12 weeksand were able to lowertheir daily insulin doses bymore than half,” saidStephan Martin, M.D., adiabetes specialist whoconducted the small, three-month study and sharedresults at this year’sAmerican DiabetesAssociation yearly meet-ing.

The study included 22obese patients with type 2diabetes who required highdaily insulin doses. In thefirst week, they replaced allthree meals with Almased.In the next three weeks,they added back a high-protein lunch. From weekfive to the end of the study,they only replaced dinner.Dr. Martin noted that it waseasy for patients to incor-porate Almased into theirdaily lives.

Dr. Martin and his teamchecked in on participantsa year and a half after thestudy ended. Most main-tained improvements inweight and blood sugarcontrol. Four patients con-tinued to use Almased ontheir own and lost moreweight and had moreimprovements in theirsugar control. Two wereable to stop insulin injec-tions completely. Dr. Martincommented that “Thisshows how patients whoare motivated and usetools like Almased canmake a real change to theirweight and their diabetes.”

Silke Ullmann, a registereddietitian who works atAlmased, USA, adds, “Weare committed to studyingAlmased and providingsupport to people with type2 diabetes so they can takecontrol of their health.”

The website,www.Almased.com, pro-vides nutritional advice,meal plans and other infor-mation about how to usethe product. Another studywith more than 300patients is under way toconfirm these findings.Both studies are spon-sored by Almased-Wellness-GmbH Germany.

FEEDER CATTLE FRIDAY, JUNE 22ND: With a very nice buying crowd, we soldright at 2000 feeders Friday. With grain futures rapidly rising, fed cattle starting to slip,and a very unfriendly cattle on feed report, our market was under pressure from theprevious couple of weeks. Demand is still very good with feeder numbers in our areapretty small. Friday’s report showed heavier numbers of cattle heading into thefeedyards than expected. My guess is with dry conditions in several parts of this countryand severe drought in Mexico, cattle are flocking off dry grass.
