Today is a day in which we honor our physical mothers. I am so thankful for the great example of godly mothers. I am so thankful for the influence of my mother in my life. I am also incredibly thankful for the influence that Lori has as the mother of our children. A phrase that I have heard many mothers say is: “because I said so!” There are times in scripture where we find certain individuals questioning God’s actions. One of these situations is found in 2 Samuel 6. King David is bringing the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem. The Ark had been placed on a cart and was being pulled. During the journey, the Ark became unsteady and Uzzah reached out to steady it. Uzzah was struck dead by God for touching the Ark. At first, David was displeased that God had done such a thing (2 Sam. 6:8). However, David quickly regained his com-posure and came to understand that God does not think as man thinks. David’s confession pertaining to this event is striking. In 1 Chronicles 15:13, he states: “…for that we sought him not according to the ordinance.” David realized that it was his fault that Uzzah was struck down. He had authorized the Ark to be transported in a way that God had not approved of. It did not matter that Uzzah had the best of intentions when he tried to steady the Ark; he was still transgressing God’s law by touching it. This can be a difficult concept for us to grasp sometimes. It is not our place to question God’s commands, or to try and change them. Our place is to simply obey them. In Isaiah 55:8-9, God tells us that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. This means that God un-derstands things that we cannot, due to the fact that He is omniscient. This should be enough for us. We should understand that we serve an all knowing God. If He has given us a command to follow through His word, then our concern needs to be obeying that command and not questioning it. There are so many people who spend too much time focusing on what the Bible doesn’t say, instead of focusing on what the Bible does say. Now, we have an obligation to prove something right or wrong according to the scriptures (1 Thessalonians 5:21). But, this does not mean that we question everything God com-mands of us. If God says it, then that should be all we need to know.

The Big Blue Box
We, as Christians, need to show con-cern for our brethren and others. If you know of someone who needs checking on, has problems in their life, etc. write out the information and put it in the Blue Box in the foyer. David Mar-tin is overseeing this good work.
The Big Black Box Every 3rd Sunday evening, Jimmy will have a Questions & Answers session. You can submit Biblical questions by placing them in the Big Black Box in the foyer. These ques-tions will be dealt with in the order they are received.
