Sermon Notes Luke – How Much More?
Luke 11:1-33
Praying Like Jesus
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
Why did the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray?
Audacious Prayer
I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. Luke 11:8
What role do hope and imagination have in prayer?
Living for More
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13
How does our prayer life fit into the mission of God?
Small Group Discussion
The Praying Life
Read Luke 11:1-13 and reflect together:
1. Which story do you most relate to when it comes to prayer (friend relationship, parent child relationship)? Explain.
2. What does Jesus encourage his disciples to pray for? Why?
3. What does Jesus’ teaching on prayer reveal about the will and mission of God?
4. Pray together about the things that you have shared.
