We don’t make gear for posers.TOBE is about providing well designed equipment for real people who live their lives in the real backcountry.

These people with real lives don’t care whether their friends are on a snowboard, a snowmobile or on a pair of skis.

They all appreciate gear which lasts a full season without duct tape.

BACKPACK VENTS

Snowskirts

We strongly believe that it’s the little details that makes the big differences.Take ventilation for example. Ever wondered why the ventilation zips are placed so that it’s nearly impossible to reach them? We did.Everyone we know constantly carries around on a backpack full of water, chocolate bars and avalanche equipment.Which means they can’t use the ventilation without taking the back pack off. So we went ahead and asked some of the worst powder junkies we knew to once and for all figure out how it should be done.

All the new jackets and onepiece suits in the TOBE 2.0 series features our new Backpack Vents.

We’re done with straps, velcros, pressbuttons and-you-name-it. Let’s face it, the only way of sealing the waist and prevent snow from getting inside the snowskirt is with a zipper. Period.Need something better than this? The only thing better than this is our onepiece.

This is HOW WE DO ITTOBE was founded 2001 based on the idea of creating the ultimate backcountry gear. We focused on making the most durable gear imaginable for the everyday hard life in the back-country. Simple and easy, eh?To be honest, it wasn’t that easy. After more than 10 years of riding, testing, freezing and being soaking wet we are ridiculosly proud to present our new TOBE 2.0 collection. We hope you will like it as much as we do.

An endless disaster... or?

When we started working on the project that eventually became TOBE 2.0, we had been making outerwear for snowmobilers for over 10 years. During these years we have seen the technical aspects of the snowmobiles change dramatically. We have also seen and experienced a radical change in how we ride them.Snowmobilers today expect, and need to expect, more from their equipment. They are going deeper in to the backcountry and they are riding in worse weather conditions. Staying dry is not longer just a matter of feeling comfortable, it’s matter of safety. An insulated-almost-waterproof jacket and a cotton t-shirt just won’t do the trick anymore.Maybe it does, if youre staying on the trail, but that’s not why you just paid big money for a 3” paddle track and an avalanche crash-course, right?

The goals we set up for the new TOBE 2.0 collection means a big commitment from our side. The Dermizax fabrics from Toray helps us achieve these goals.

But what is Dermizax and how does it work?Dermizax is a hydrophilic non-porous membrane- or in terms that are understandable it’s a water loving film with no holes in it. The reason that technologies like Dermizax are hard to understand is that it ”operates” at a molecular level and not physical.

Kenny at Toray USA put it like this ”It breathes by moving water molecules through molecular openings in the membrane. Basically it breathes by ”absorbing” vapor molecules on one side and releasing it on the other side. The benefit of this structure is that in very high activity it is able to reduce condensation and feel more comfortable because of the hydrophilic membrane ability to effectively deal with the high level of humidity inside the garment.”

Dermizax vs. GoreTexThe question we get most often is how is it different from Gore-Tex and why don’t you use a Gore product? As stated above, Dermizax is a non-porous film, while Gore-Tex is a porous technology- has holes. The holes are large enough for water vapor to pass, but too small for water in a liquid state to pass through.

DurableDermizax is an extremely high quality fabric that holds its high quality even after long periods of extensive use. Inconventional fabrics dirt and sweat accumulate in micro pores over time. This reduces, or blocks the breathability of the fabric. Moreover micro pores get damaged during washing. They stretch up, tear, or get clogged. Since Dermizax has no such micro pores, the fabric does not damage or clog. This results in a much longer functional lifetime for Dermizax fabrics compared to conventional fabrics. A second problem that shortens the life time of waterproof breathable fabrics is delamination.

SIMPLY A matter of StayinG DRY

Snowskirts When delaminating, the membrane loosens from the outer fabric. The Dermizax membrane has a high elastic ability, which greatly reduces the risk of delamination or damaging the membrane under friction stress – at the elbows, knees and shoulders. The Dermizax membrane is made of PU (Poly Urethane), which is much easier to laminate on other materials than f.e.PTFE or PE which conventional membranes are often made of. The type of glue and manufacturing process is the key to success. This results in an extremely strong bonding between outer fabric and inner membrane.

An endless disaster... or? Drops of water (10,000 - 2,000,000 Á)diameter are too big to penetrated the membrane(Waterproof)

Perspiration vapor (3,5 À)passes through themembrane’s inter-molecularopenings easily (moisture-permeable

With a one-piece suit you are not joking around anymore. Let nature bring it on because you are going to be ready. With the obscure 80’s overalls our dads wore to embarrass us not more than a distant memory we set out on a mission to create the ultimate deep powder gear. After several years of secretly testing and improving the prototype in the far-off outback we realized in that we succeeded beyond any expectation.

It’s an experience difficult to explain. The feeling is a mix of initial embarrassment and the shear joy of being able to throw your self around in to the snow like a happy kid. But once you’re in the snow you will understand. And if you don’t you are not cut out for the backcountry anyway.

merino wool

NATurAL INSuLATION AND WArMThMerino wool provides natural insulation that allows the body to retain heat and maintain higher comfort levels. The natural crimp of merino fibre enables it to keep heat close to the body by trapping tiny air pockets within the fibres.

COMfOrT AND BrEAThABILITyMerino wool is a moisture wicking fibre. It draws moisture away from the skin, release it into the air or the next of your clothing layers. This helps to regulate body temperature, keeping the body warm in cold weather and cool if it is hot. It will absorb up to a third of its weight in water without feeling clammy and retains some of its warmth even when very wet.

ODOur frEEMerino wool is an anti-microbial material and as a result has natural resistance to odour. Due to this fact, Merino garments do not need to be washed as often as synthetics. In fact you may just hang it out for the night when smelly.

MErINO VS SyNThETICSynthetic fibres such as polypropylene & polyester have a much simpler structure than natural wool fibres. These petroleum based fabrics do not absorb or release moisture and cannot breathe due to the simpler construction of synthetic fibres. When knitted into fabric, they are limited to one-way moisture movement - simply no comparison to the superb insulation elements of merino wool.

MErINO VS TrADITIONAL WOOLcompared to traditional wool, merino is a smoother and finer fibre, which gives it a vastly superior texture and handle compared to traditional coarse wools. The smooth silk-like feel ensures the wearer will enjoy an ’itch-free’ experience, even on sensitive skin.

Layering your clothing is a tried-and-true way to ensure your comfort in the outdoors. The beauty of this simple concept is that it allows you to make quick adjustments based on your activity level and changes in the weather. The new layering concept we developed is based on a natural product called Merino wool. We choose this material over the more common synthetic materials for several reasons.

THE base layermoiSture management

THE middle layerinSulation

This is your next-to-skin layer. More than any other layer, the base layer helps regulate your body temperature by moving perspiration away from your skin. Trapped inside your clothing, perspiration can leave you chilled or damp no matter how well your shell layer fends off rain and snow. Keeping dry is important for maintaining a cool body temperature in the summer and avoiding hypothermia in the winter. If you’ve ever worn a cotton T-shirt under your raincoat while you hiked, you probably remember feeling wet and clammy, even though you weren’t getting wet from the rain itself. cotton is an example of a fabric that retains perspiration and can leave you vulnerable to unwanted chills. For outdoor comfort, your base layer should be made of merino wool. Rather than absorbing moisture, these fabrics transport (or ”wick”) perspiration away from your skin, dispersing it on the outer surface where it can evaporate. The result: you stay drier even when you sweat, and your shirt dries faster afterwards.

The insulating layer helps you retain heat by trapping air close to your body. Polyester fleece vests, jackets and tights are classic examples of insulation ideal for outdoor activities. They not only trap air but are also made with moisture- wicking fibers to help keep you dry.

Natural fibers such as wool and goose down are excellent insulators. Wool sweaters and shirts (especially the new generation of merino wool products) offer soft, reliable warmth and keep on insulating even when wet.

airbag The Airbag jacket is a highly technical 2-layer jacket designed for a hard life with waterproofness and breathability in mind. The fabric is lightweight but still very durable and resistant to both rubbing and tearing. It also withstands a water pillar of 10000mm and the breathability is 5000g/24h.The jacket features full zip vents under the arms, six exterior pockets and two interior pockets. The collar has micro fleece lining and the snowskirt has snaps that attach to the pants to create a protective seal akin to a one-piece suit.

Size guide - A few Tipsyou are going to find that the TOBE outershells are built a little

larger than normal. This means that we for example made the arms a bit longer and the chest and knees a bit wider. The reason is simply because we built our clothing with extra room for our customers that wear body armor.

One-piece suitsIn order to be comfortable a one-piece suit needs to be loosefit, and that’s how we make them. So, in general the only measurement you need to consider is your body length andthen go with the size we recomend in the size chart below. When you try it on, make sure to lean forward and touch your knee caps. If it then feels like its’ restraining your throat or feels too tight over your back you need to go one size bigger.

how to measure-The sleeve length is measured from the side of your neck along your fully extended arm to your wrist bone-chest, waist and hip is measured with a loose tape around your body.-Measure the inside of your legs from the crotch to the floor.

We guarantee that every TOBE Dermizax product we manufacture will be free of manufacturers defects for the life time of the product. This means that we will replace or repair your product without charge if it fails because of manufacturing or material defects.your product must be registered with TOBE Outerwear to receive warranty coverage.

All casual wear, mid-layers accessories and non Dermizax outer shell products are covered by a one-year warranty. For questions about your warranty eamil:[email protected] contact the dealer where you purchased your product.
