The Stadium was delivered within the context of the City’s vision and Sport Strategy.
2010 FIFA World Cup provided an opportunity for the vision and the strategy to be realised.
By 2030 eThekwini will be Africa’s most caring and liveable city Moses Mabhida Stadium is in line with the City’s Vision
“Africa’s most liveable city” – by the creation of open public space and accessible and safe amenities such as the People’s Park, Kiddies playground and Imbizo Place. Also the offering of world class events.
“where all citizens live in harmony” – Hosting multi-cultural events that create platforms for social cohesion and where citizens from all racial groups can come, enjoy and share a common interest.

Stadium Bowl 56 000 seating capacity stadium, capable of expanding to 80 000
A Premier Playing field that meets the requirements of major sporting bodies such as FIFA, International Rugby board (IRB) and International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Designed to accommodate an athletics track for track & field events

• Unique/ One of a kind
• Gives visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking views of the City, Indian Ocean and surrounding areas.
• Over 620 000 visitors have experienced the SkyCar since opening.
Adventure Walk
• Designed on the same very popular concept at the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia
• Gives the more adventurous visitor an opportunity to take a guided tour up 500 steps to the Top of the arch
Stadium Tours
• The stadium’s Guest Relations Officers take guests on guided tours within the stadium
• Opportunity for guests to experience and see the world class facilities on offer as well as the over 300 Art Collection pieces that are displayed throughout the stadium.
Stadium Attractions Big Rush Swing
• The only stadium swing and largest of any kind internationally - Confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records.
• Visitors get the opportunity to jump into the void 106 meters above the pitch and swing out in a huge 220 meter arc
Segway Tours
• No other stadia offer this unique experience of gliding on a Segway
• Visitors not only have the opportunity to see & experience the stadium but also have the opportunity to glide along the beachfront
Kiddies Play Area
• One of the most popular attractions for families with young children is the Kiddies Play Area in People’s Park.

The stadium has the most technologically advanced ‘Cook Chill’ system which offers the highest possible Food Safety guarantees to clients and attendees, and the stadium adheres to the HACCP principals of operation.

Moses Mabhida Stadium is the only stadium in Africa which offers this
