To ChildrenEphesians 6: 1-3Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this
is right. “Honor your father and mother” – which is the first commandment with a promise – “ that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
• The key words are “obey” and “honor:
- Life time obedient- Obey our parents in the Lord- Because of God’s Grace in us, we are able to obey
and honor our parents in spite of their imperfection.
Honor means: Show reverence, respect and
godly fear.Children are to respect their parents as
we respect God.
We obey and honor God because:1. It is the command of God2. We want to follow the example of
Jesus Christ. Even on the cross, Christ asked Apostle John to take care of his mother.(John 19:25-27)
How do we honor our parents?
4 ways: Using acronym

A poem
To Dad & Mum with love
Dear dad, dear mumThe day I stepped into this
worldIs the day you took up a
great taskGiving me your
unconditional love.Teaching me what is right
and wrong.
When I am sad, a listener you will be
When I am sick, a doctor you try to be
When I am about to give up hope
You lifted up my spirits Teaching me failure is the
mother of success
When I was a child,I knew I could always count
on you.I could always bring to you
my troubles,And you’d make them go
away.
When I was a teen,We did not always see things
eye to eye. There was time when unkind
words were spoken,There was time when our action
causes you much pain Yet we knew even then,
How much you care and love us.
When I became an adult,I thought I did not need you
anymore.I went my own way and found it was
hardTo live in the world without you by
my side.I began to realize
The sacrifices you had made for me,Always putting me first,
Always being there for me.
Dear dad, dear mumWe are sorry if hurtful words
had been saidWe are sorry if our action brings tears to your eyes
On this special Parents DayWe want to thank you for your understanding, love
and sacrifices.
Thank You mum, for your love is faithful and always
trustingThank You dad, for your love will stand the test of
time.We loved you then
We always will.
Blessed Parents’ Day
