Outreach Needed Donations: Pillow Cases (new, solid light colors) for children’s project in August at St.

John’s Lutheran in Detroit. Please leave donations in the Open Hearts Bin in the Gym alcove.

Kazakhstan: Mission Trip August 1—15, 2012

Interested in a mission trip that will help children in orphanages learn English and experience the

love of Christ through a Vacation Bible School program? Please join us for an informational meeting

on May 20, 10:45 am, Room 9. For additional information or if you have questions, please contact

Breakfast in the City: Peace Lutheran Church (Detroit) and Lutheran City Ministries have

joined forces to provide a weekly breakfast meal to the 60 participants in their food pantry. Not

only does this meal feed participants physically, but it also provides an opportunity to develop a

relationship with them and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently the meal consists primarily

of breads donated by Panera. The breakfast is served every Tuesday morning at 10 am. If you

would like to join me at one of these breakfasts or if you would like to donate breakfast meats, eggs

or juice, please contact Carol at [email protected].

“JAM’N …Jesus And Me Now”: A children’s basketball event that meets on the 1st and 3rd

Saturday’s of each month, sponsored by Lutheran City Ministries, Peace Lutheran Church in

Detroit. Neighborhood children are invited for breakfast, a Bible story, basketball training, crafts

and games. Each child leaves with a brown bag lunch. If you would like to donate individual

packages of chips, granola bars, cookies, or juice boxes please mark the items “JAM’N” and leave

them in the Open Hearts bin in the gym alcove. For more information, to donate lunchmeat, or to

volunteer to help with the program contact Carol at [email protected] .

Food Pantry Open Tuesdays, 5—6:30 pm, Room 2: Temporary food assistance to members/friends of

Faith. Drop off donations at “Food Pantry” bin. Financial donations: label “Food Pantry” and place

Higher Faith Singles Join singles (age 35—55) from area churches for a variety of activities. Summer events listed on our

Senior Adults Bible Study & Luncheon: 1st Wednesday of Every Month

High School

The Road: Sundays, 9:15 am—10:30 am, Student Center: A relaxed and fun environment

where students can interact with others, be introduced to the person and expectations of Jesus

Myrtle Beach Trip: July 14—20: Open to upcoming freshmen—graduating seniors. We’ll

spend two days traveling and four days on the beach! We’ll learn about God the creator while

in His incredible creation. Cost: $150 includes transportation, lodging, breakfasts and lunches

while at the beach. Dinners and meals while on the road will be “on your own.” Sign up now,

only a few spots remain.

Creation Museum: August 8 & 9: We’ll tour the 70K square foot museum and learn about the

6-literal day creation. Registration closes July 29 or when the trip fills up, whichever comes

first. Cost: $80 includes transportation, hotel, admission to the museum, planetarium, and most

food.

College & Young Adults College Age Bible Study: Sunday Nights, 7 pm, Student Center

Weekly teachings and discussions designed to encourage and challenge you in your walk with
