Also the nearby Choyo Ohashi has been closed to traffic.(gps navigation systems might show it as a valid route but there is no connecting road further down). Route 57 has been completely shut down until further notice. For access to the Aso and Minamiaso area coming from Kumamoto, Ozu and Kikuchi on route 57 ( ), please follow prefectural road 339 nicknamed "MILK ROAD" across the northern outer rim, passing the Akamizu area. For access to Minami-Aso village when coming from Nishihara and Mashiki-town, please follow prefectural road 225 unto the renewed route 28 passing through Tawarayama Tunnel. Please beware that during the winter months traffic passing over Mt.
