For Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, which is in May, GCAPP is launching a statewide essay contest to help build awareness about teen pregnancy in Georgia. Teen pregnancy is the #1 reason girls drop out of school, only 2% of teen mothers finish college by age 30, and teen parents face challenges most will never overcome. The overwhelming majority of teen parents live in poverty. With more than 12,000 teen births a year, Georgia remains one of the states with the highest teen birth and pregnancy rates in the country. For the first time this year, GCAPP is also featuring the voices of young adults in the essay contest, up to age 24, and their perspective on what they believe is needed to effectively prevent teen pregnancy and continue prevention through young adulthood! Nine winning essays will be awarded monetary prizes and the students will be recognized on GCAPP’s website and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy’s StayTeen.org website. Winners will be announced the week of May 11.Essays must not exceed 500 words or one page.

The destiny of a nation is not determined by its armed forces or material resources. Nor is it empowered by its political philosophy or intellectual

achievements. God’s Word reveals and the records of history prove that it is “not by power, nor by might, but by my spirit” that nations survive over time. The destiny of any nation is determined by the spiritual life of its people. “Blessed is the nation,” David declared, “whose God is the Lord.” Every nation has had an opportunity to accept the Word of God and follow His ways, to worship Him and to do His will. This is an obvious fact of history. Rome became a great empire but it collapsed. Why? The celebrated Italian historian, Papini, wrote that “the temple, the bank, and the academy were against Jesus of Nazareth.” Germany became great but was reduced to rubble. Wrote a German philosopher, “They pushed God out of the universities and that was the beginning of the death sentence for the empire.” What will be our destiny when we are no longer “one nation under God?” We are the ones responsible to “humble ourselves, pray, call upon the Lord and repent” if we do not want to be a memory on the pages of history.

Taco Casserole!Ingredients1 lb ground beef1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelopes taco seasoning1 (10 1/2 ounce) cans mushroom soup1 (8 ounce) cans beef broth1 (14 ounce) cans rotel6 slices cheddar cheese1 (8 ounce) bags tortilla chips

Directions1.Brown ground beef.2.Add taco seasoning, mushroom soup, beef broth, and Rotel tomatoes.3.Bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 5-10 minutes.4.Pour chips into bottom of casserole dish (leave whole).5.Pour beef mixture over chips.6.Place sliced cheese on top.7.Bake at 375° for about 10 minutes or until cheese looks melted.Courtesy of www.food.comEditor’s Note: I made this and it is good.
