This is to inform you that the CEAP National Board of Trustees has scheduled the 2018 CEAP National Convention on October 2-5, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center-Manila, Pasay City. 2018 CEAP National Convention Registration Guidelines for CEAP Member-Schools

To facilitate easy and efficient registration to the 2018 CEAP National Convention carefully read and follow the steps outlined below. Observe registration deadlines to give the organizers enough time to finalize venue/food arrangements, production of convention kits and materials, and other logistical considerations. Check your e-mails regularly for notices and important announcements. Updates may also be received through Facebook.com/CatholicEdPH and Twitter.com/CatholicEdPH.

ONLINE REGISTRATION GUIDELINES STEP 1 – Log on to http://convention.ceap.org.ph and click the “Register Now” button. Fill up the form completely and click “Submit”. Wait for the approved registration to load and PRINT. You need to PRINT and SAVE the form for future reference. The online facility will be open starting on April 16, 2018. STEP 2 – Pay the Registration Fee thru: A. Over the counter at any Banco De Oro (BDO) branch using the BILLS PAYMENT SLIP. Note that you need to provide the following information in the slip: Company Name: Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines or CEAP Product Code: 116 Subscriber Account Number: CEAP-BDO ID Number (each CEAP member school has its own 15-digit ID number) Subscriber Name: Name of the School If paying in check, please make it payable to: CATHOLIC EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES B. 2018 ELECTION RULES & REGULATIONS

1. VOTING RIGHTS/PROXIES 1.1 Only school heads, superintendents or their duly authorized proxies are entitled to vote. 1.2 All proxies must be duly authorized by their school heads in writing, submitted to and

received by the Committee on Elections (COMELEC) not later than August 31, 2018.

1.3 No employee of the CEAP shall be authorized as proxy for purposes of voting during the CEAP Convention. 1.4 The COMELEC shall have authority on voting rights and qualifications of delegates or proxies.

2. VOTING/BALLOTS

2.1 Secret voting for a new CEAP Trustee-at-large shall be held in the afternoon, following an orientation on COMELEC rules, on October 2, 2018.

2.2 Ballots shall be distributed to and filled up by the school heads/superintendents or their duly authorized proxies, and canvassed based on pre-determined face values. Each ballot shall have a face value of 1 vote, 2 votes, 3 votes, or 4 votes, depending on the number of votes each school is entitled to, based on departmental levels offered/registered at the CEAP National Office. These ballots are color-coded to facilitate the canvassing process.

2.3 Each school shall be entitled to one (1) vote for each of the following departments offered: pre-elementary/elementary, secondary (including SHS), college and graduate school.

3. NOMINATIONS

3.1 Any CEAP member school head/representative may submit advanced nominations for the election of the Trustee-at-Large, which shall be received by the CEAP COMELEC Chairperson c/o CEAP National Office, not later than August 31, 2018. A nominee must confirm his/her acceptance in writing, by telegram or telefax (426-2670 or 926-6273) to the CEAP COMELEC Chairperson c/o CEAP National Office (may be emailed to [email protected]) not later than September 15, 2018.

3.2 A nominee is allowed to accept nomination for only one vacant position. 3.3 The COMELEC shall have final authority on qualifications of nominees. A nominee must come from a

school, which is on active membership status determined by the National Office. 3.4 The COMELEC shall present the list of advanced/ accepted/qualified nominations to the Assembly prior

to voting. 3.5 The COMELEC may allow additional nominations from the floor, provided the nominees are qualified and

willing to accept their nomination.

4. CANVASSING 4.1 The COMELEC, assisted by duly designated CEAP staff, shall conduct the canvassing of votes. The

casting of ballots may be done after the orientation by the Chair of the COMELEC during the Business Meeting of school heads until 5:00 PM of the following day (October 3, 2018).

5. RESULTS OF ELECTIONS 5.1 The COMELEC shall submit the result of the election to the CEAP National Board right after the canvassing

of ballots on October 2, 2018. The announcement of the election results and proclamation of the winner will be done before the closing of the CEAP Convention.

This is to inform you that the National Board of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) through the Membership and Awards Committee has opened the nomination for the Pro Deo et Patria Award 2018 and 1st Catholic Heroes School Award 2018. The Pro Deo et Patria is the highest award given by the Association to deserving individual/s who manifests an exemplary attitude of love for God and country and his/her faithfulness to Catholic teachings as part of service to God. The awardee must be seen as a model of Christ the Teacher. Past recipients of this award are the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, the late President Corazon C. Aquino (posthumously), Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal (Cebu 2010), Fr. Anscar R. Chupungco, OSB (posthumously, Cebu 2013), Fr. Catalino G. Arevalo, SJ, Abp. Leonardo Z. Legaspi, D.D. PRO DEO ET PATRIA AWARD

I. Nature and Description The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), committed to promote democracy, concern and respect for human dignity, recognizes the noble and significant contributions of the lay and consecrated people to education, through the highest award that it confers known as Pro Deo et Patria Award (for God and Country). CEAP acknowledges the internal and external manifestation of the awardees love for God and country and his/her faithfulness to Catholic teachings as part of service to God. 1. The awardee will receive an Icon of Christ the Teacher and a plaque during the Closing Program of the 2018 CEAP National Convention on October 3, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. No monetary award will be given to the awardee.

2. The accomplishments of the Pro Deo et Patria awardee would be included in the CEAP Bulletin and other publications that would be released by the association. An audio-visual presentation (AVP) featuring these achievements would be shown during to the awarding.

III. Criteria

A. Service to God

1. The awardee must have significantly contributed in the promotion of Catholic values in the country through his/her advocacy, initiation of and/or participation in specific projects, activities or programs.

a. These projects/advocacies must have been clearly demonstrated and proven to

have positively affected Philippine society or the specific communities where these were initiated. These should be stable, sustainable and capable of being replicated; or

b. These projects/advocacies must have ushered in new ways to promote Catholic education so that many people may be influenced to consciously explore innovative and creative avenues to uphold transformative education and improvement in the larger educational system in general.

2. The awardee must be of high moral and spiritual integrity, whose faith can be emulated

and promoted as worthy of emulation.

B. Service to the Country

1. The awardee must also be involved in socio-civic work which aims to improve the lives of others. This shows that there is a check in the promotion of a well-rounded being. A solid contribution to the JEEPGY pillar programs of CEAP is a preference.

2. The awardee must be a leader in his/her field but need not be a person of immense power or stature. His/her leadership status shows that s/he does not just do what s/he does for the sake of doing it but that s/he wants to lead and mobilize others to realize their objectives, clearly a better way of bringing in encouraging change.

IV. Guidelines

1. The candidate must have been nominated by a member-school, Regional Trustee or any member of the Board through the Membership and Awards Committee, before May 21, 2018.

2. The advocates for the candidates must furnish documents to the Membership and Awards Committee whose members will deliberate and prepare its recommendation to the National Board.

3. The Membership and Awards Committee will convene for a special meeting upon receipt of written nominations before the 2nd quarter Board Meeting. A 2/3 vote from the members of the Committee would warrant endorsement to the CEAP National Board.

4. The National Board will deliberate and/or approve the recommendation of the Membership and Awards Committee. The awardee must have received 2/3 votes of all the members and a resolution from the National Board before the 2018 National Convention for the award to be granted.

5. The National Board will no longer accommodate a nominee whose name has been submitted to the Board three times. All deliberations on this award are strictly confidential.

6. If no nominees have been submitted before May 21, 2018, the CEAP Board may not confer the award for this year.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL HEROES AWARD

I. Nature and Description: The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) in its promotion of solidarity and unity of action among its member institutions towards fulfilling the evangelizing mission of the Church in Education recognizes the dedication of individuals in its member institutions who continuously promote quality and transformative Catholic Education. CEAP in acknowledging these individuals who exemplify the CEAP values of Christ-centeredness, Integrity, Solidarity, Stewardship, Empowerment and Service confers the Catholic School Heroes Award to these heroes who make life changing contributions in their own simple ways. The award especially recognizes the perseverance, dedication and loyalty of individuals in CEAP member schools that really contributed to the development of their individual school communities and have been in service for 10 years or more. II. The Award

1. The awardee will receive an Icon of Jesus (Washing of Feet) and a plaque during the Closing Program of the 2018 CEAP National Convention on October 3, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

2. A monetary award of Php 50,000.00 during the Closing Program of the annual CEAP National Convention.

3. A plaque with a citation that relays his/her accomplishments.

4. The accomplishments of the Catholic School Heroes awardee would be included in the CEAP Bulletin and other publications that would be released by the association. An audio-visual presentation (AVP) featuring these achievements would be shown during to the awarding.

III. Criteria

1. Centered in the Person and Message of Jesus Christ: a. The awardee is an example of good Christian Life regularly participating in Church and

parish activities and community outreach programs.

b. The awardee is a model of spiritual integrity whose faith is seen in their daily life and interaction with people.

2. Participating in the Evangelizing Mission of the Church

a. The awardee provides his/her community members opportunities for authentic apostolate and pastoral actions

b. The awardee strengthens the fervor in the transmission of the Christian faith of his/her community members.

3. Animated by the Spirit of Communion a. The awardee ensures the conduciveness of his/her environment to building a Christian community. b. The awardee encourages every member of his/her community in making Catholic education responsive to the battle cry of the Church.

4. Established as an Ecclesial Institution a. The awardee makes a good representation of the Church and its traditions to his/her community. b. The awardee embeds the Catholic doctrine in the formation program and academic curriculum of his/her community. 5. Distinguished by a Culture of Excellence a. The awardee helps transform his/her community’s logic of excellence into love for wisdom, passion for truth and commitment to service, caring for others, and forming minds and hearts. 6. Committed to Integral Human Formation a. The awardee puts premium on the formation of the physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, cultural and creative dimensions of his/her community members. 7. Engaged in the Service of the Church and Society with Preferential Option for the Poor a. The awardee ascertains that each family gives their children the right to quality education. b. The awardee makes quality education accessible especially to the underprivileged members of his/her community. 8. Promoting Dialogue on Faith and Life and Culture a. The awardee builds bridges between and among members of his/her community of rich culture, indigenous beliefs and foreign influences. b. The awardee teaches his/her community members to discern and respond to the challenge of integrating the tenets of their faith with the practices of their culture and the secular world.

IV. Guidelines

1. The CEAP Catholic Heroes Award gives importance to those who work diligently behind the scenes even without recognition. Candidates who have received recognitions and awards from other award giving bodies or organizations and current members of the CEAP Board of Trustees are not qualified for a nomination.

2. There are separate categories for administrators, faculty members, students, and support staff.

3. Candidates, except for the school administrators’ category must have been nominated by a member-school Head, Regional Trustee or any member of the Board through the Membership and Awards Committee.

4. Nomination of school-administrator candidates must come from any member of the Board. The nomination shall made on or before May 21, 2018.

5. Call for nominees will be released before the 2nd quarter Board Meeting.

6. The advocates for the candidates must furnish the registration and supporting documents to the Membership and Awards Committee whose members will deliberate and prepare its recommendation to the National Board.
