NOTE: The VIN List is available on DealerCONNECT for all affected dealers. The VIN List has been inserted in the Service Tab under Rapid Response Transmittals. The dealers receiving the Rapid Response Transmittal Service Action are the “Ship To” dealers and the VIN’s listed are specific to their dealership. All involved vehicles will be loaded into the VIP system. NOTE: This should be a top priority and be completed prior to sale to avoid suspect vehicles being delivered to customers. DISCUSSION: A number of vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine (Sales code ED3) built between December 11, 2009 (MDH 1211XX) and January 25, 2010 (MDH0125XX) may experience a rough idle, hiss sound at idle or MIL illumination for: P2173 - High Airflow/Vacuum Leak Detected (Slow Accumulation) P2074 - MAP/TPS Correlation - High Airflow/Vacuum Leak Detected P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Dealers are requested to inspect the build date on the intake manifold and if the Julian built date is “3459” it is necessary to inspect the cavity number that the intake manifold was built on (cavity #3 suspect). If the Julian date and the cavity number match the intake manifold must be replaced. REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Open Hood. 2. Locate Julian date on the top of the intake manifold (Fig. 1).

NOTE: Picture is for reference only. Julian build date “3459” is the suspect parts.

3. Is the first 4 numbers of the Julian date “3459”? a. YES >>> Proceed to step 4. b. NO >>> No Further action is required.

4. Disconnect Battery. 5. Remove clean air hose from air cleaner housing.

6. Using a mirror look at the inside of the intake manifold to identify the mold number (Fig. 2).

7. Is mold number “Cav. 3”? a. YES >>> Replace Intake Manifold. Follow the detailed service procedures

available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 9 - Engine > Manifolds > Manifold Intake – Removal and Installation.

b. NO >>> No Further action is required. POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty. TIME ALLOWANCE: LABOR OPERATION NO: 09-50-01-90 Inspect Intake Manifold for 0.2 Hrs.
