What another amazing week at Griffin!

This week has seen a major uptick in the

number of events going on around cam-

pus. We had our Chorus performing in

LGPE, and if I do have to say so, they were

beyond awesome! This week also brought

on the PTSA Penny Wars with a new twist

of pies in the face to teachers – some

teachers were quick to earn a pie in the

face. As I am writing this letter, some of

our Elite Gentlemen and Ladies of Excel-

lence will be getting ready for a trip to the

state capitol where they will get a tour and

meet some of our elected officials.

Yesterday, I was able to meet with 40+

7th graders who are serving on my Princi-

pal’s Student Advisory Board. We had

some great discussions about next week’s

potential student walkout as well as sever-

al topics for next year. This board will meet

at least two more times this year to help

set the tone for next year. I strongly believe

that we need to provide our students with

a chance for their voice to be heard.

Tomorrow we end the week with a me-

morial service for our beloved Ms.

Dear Wildcat Families,

Quarles. As I worked in her room this week,

I had to stop several times to compose

myself as so many great memories flooded

my head. It reminded me of how precious

life is and that we should seize every mo-

ment since we are not guaranteed tomor-

row. If your child wants to attend the me-

morial service, it will be at the Mayes Ward-

Dobbins Funeral Home on Church St in

Marietta at 11 am on Saturday.

Don’t forget that next Saturday is our

45th Anniversary. We will open the building

at 11 am and have a short program in the

cafeteria at 12. Please pass the word that

we encourage everyone in the community

to stop by. Things have changed in 45 year

– ok, things have changed in the 4 years I

have been here!!

My wish for each of you this weekend

and next week is to cherish every moment

with those you love and to “Live the

Dream” as Ms. Quarles would say.

Always,

Paul

On Saturday, March 3rd the Griffin Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the regional tournament at Georgia State University. Students had an opportunity to prepare to compete in 24 events overall, and put their science knowledge on display. Griffin finished 8th overall and while we did not earn a trip to the state tournament, we posted our best finishes ever. Students brought home 3rd or 4th place medals in 6 events, and first place in 1 event. In addi-tion, they also placed in the top ten in 5 other events, earning ribbons for their efforts. The coaches are already planning and strategizing for next year’s team!

Spring Break School-April 2018 Parent Survey

Dear Parents,

We are in the process of determining from you if there is a need and/or desire to provide a fun learning experience

for your children during Spring Break. We are in the process of devising a three day session to include Milestones

prep, fun outside activities with academic clubs like robotics, drones, and computer coding for those who want to

beat the heat!! Of course we will plan for lunch each day for all participants. Griffin loves serving our parents and

students in this way, so we need to know if you are interested!

Please complete the survey below and let us know your thoughts.
