RE: Grenfell - Meeting attendees

I have discussed with Si m on Lawrence at Rydons and my view is the obvious next step is to go ahead with the large scale samples of the aluminium because I don't think we have exhausted our arguments for composite panels.

I have just spoken to Sarah Scannel to get a steer on the sample we should be preparing.

• She re-iterated the request for an finished example of a brushed appearance.

• She did only look at Chalcott Estate and conceded that the vast expanse of flat panel used there is unlike Grenfell.

• She is interested to see the detail and junctions: window head, window cill, and particularly the pilasters.

• She re-iterated the concern about the exposed fixings and the overall quality of appearance.

Sarah agreed with me that the visual interest of the interfaces/junctions will be important and it was in the back of

her mind but not mentioned in the email. As such I would suggest a sample at least as big as the crop below.

I will be meeting Si m on on site on Wednesday to discuss selection. There are options which are steps up the cost

ladder which will also be discussed with the client

Dear all

Do you have any observations on Sarah's email?

She seems to be commenting on appearance of material and the manner of fixings- in Marc's absence, can you

advise on whether the materials you have identified can be seen in a better light elsewhere? Is it more a question of

how they have been fitted?

Do we have examples oftextured I brushed fixings which would be suitable?

Kind regards

Amy

Marc,

I have now had an opportunity to visit the buildings we discussed in the meeting . Unfortunately, we remain unconvinced that the panels would provide a long term quality required for such a high profile building. Overall the buildings have a flat, almost dull , appearance. The fixings are clearly visible and on many of the panels. In some cases the fixings have not be aligned , resulting in a random and un-uniform appearance. In addition, many of the panels had not weathered well , with water damage and accumulation of dirt around ledges, pipes etc.

I am interested to understand if the more textured or brushed finish would alleviate some of these issues. Do you have any examples of where a more textured panel has been used on a building that we could go and visit?
