Smartphone Explosion• The race to 1 billion has begun- 51.1% in developed vs. 5.4% in developing market
have signed up for mobile broadband (900 million customers)• 500 million users targetable within two years without an inter platform rivalry • 3.6 billion in developing markets especially high ARPU slightly out of reach but tipping
point is no more than 4-5 years away
Market Consolidation• 90% of world population lives within coverage areas, 77% are mobile subscribers• T-Mobile’s 34 million subscribers will need to move to AT&T’s network for iPhone
Network is the experience, integration is the differentiator?• India - 60% of the mobile web users never/infrequently use a desktop• Digital Music and News business has not grown much since 2007. Netflix anyone?• NFC in smart phones is not just about payments• More than 45% prefer operator billing
Cloudy skies• The network is key but are the data centers ready?• Private cloud is not an option, it’s the survival (scalable and open)• SaaS and PaaS are essential for M2M boom on the way
