Share with children different activities that people can do to celebrate Earth Day any day of the year: Plant a sapling or more greenery around school or in a backyard. Instead of driving/taking a ride in a car, ride a bike, take public transportation, or walk whenever possible. Create posters with reminders to make environmentally friendly choices and put them in strategic places. Bake cookies and decorate them to look like the earth. Sell the cookies at a bake sale and donate the proceeds to an environmental organization. Gather for a picnic in a park and have a litter cleanup excursion. Collect old books, clothes, and toys to give away through a local charity shop or library for others to reuse. Bring reusable containers to school for lunch instead of using plastic and paper.
