We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

To those of you just beginning

Tae Kwon Do classes, do not be

afraid nor expect too much out of

yourself in the beginning.

Most beginners feel uncomfortable

with some of the movements at first.

Don't worry, in a short time that

feeling will go away, and you will feel

very comfortable. You are not an

expert yet, and no one expects you

to do more than try your best. If you

expect too much at the beginning,

you will only disappoint yourself.

Also remember, anything worthwhile

takes perseverance. If you try your

absolute best, then that is the best.

The best student is not the one who

does the fanciest techniques. The

best student is the one who

continues to try his best and never

give up. I strongly believe you will be

the best student in YMCA Tae Kwon

Do Program.

Thanksgiving Healthy Choices

During Thanksgiving

you can teach your

kids how to prepare

for Thanksgiving by

making

healthy choices.

Don’t forget breakfast. Start the morning with

a healthy pumpkin smoothie.

Don’t starve. Avoid trying to save your appe-

tite for dinner or you will tend to overeat.

Go for Veggies! Cook healthier, low calorie

seasonal vegetables for a nutrient packed

meal.

Start the festivities with healthy choices.

Offer some tasty and healthy appetizers with

low fat dips to keep the calories down!

Get moving! After dinner, get the family

active with fun indoor or outdoor activities.

Don’t beat yourself up! If you feel like your

family forgot their healthy habits, then just

get the family back on the healthy track.

Get your kids involved in Thanksgiving planning

and cooking. Most young children enjoy being a

'helper' and its a fun way to spend time together.

They also enjoy cooking and will be proud to

share the healthy dish they helped prepare for

Thanksgiving.

Kickboxing

People have been practicing the sport of kickboxing for thousands of years,

but it did not become popular and a formal event in the United States until

the 1970s. Kickboxing not only teaches you to defend yourself, it also offers

great competition and gives your body a total workout.

Kickboxing is practiced in different ways: it can be for fitness, self-

defense or as a sport. A kickboxing aerobic class is a good way to stay fit

while also learning the combined basic techniques of kicking and boxing.

The benefits of kickboxing are: relieving stress, self defense, and an

increase in flexibility. It can relieve stress because it is especially effective.

Kickboxers can picture the situation that causes them stress, then punch

and kick their stress away throughout their session. Those who are involved

with kickboxing as a martial art or contact sport quickly improve their

self-defense skills. People who take cardio kickboxing classes for the fitness

benefits also develop skills and strength that can be used for self defense.

Punching and kicking with great force while remaining standing leads to

increased balance and coordination.

Kickboxers also increase their flexibility.

We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.
