1513 - 1515

Tiziano Vecellio (c1488-1576)ThIs painting was commissioned by Nicola Aurelio for celebrating his marriage with Laura Bagarotto and this title 'Venus and the Bride', one of more than twenty given by scholars, is therefore a serious alternative. See further details, including the provenance history of the original,  the repititions and Comments, in post "Déjà-vu (2): repetitions of TIZIANO's 'Amor sacro e Amor profano' "of the Blog 'Iconography in Art History'
