Tiziano Vecellio (c1488-1576)ThIs painting was commissioned by Nicola Aurelio for celebrating his marriage with Laura Bagarotto and this title 'Venus and the Bride', one of more than twenty given by scholars, is therefore a serious alternative. Antonio Maria ZANETTI(1679?1767) made prints of the remains of the frescoes of the Fondaco del Tedeschi in Venice, made by GIORGIONE and TIZIANO, in his 'Varie pitture a fresco de principali Maestri veneziani' of 1760. One of these prints represents two females: a female head (left) and a nude female (half-length) with head and arms similar to the naked female in TIZIANO's painting 'Amor sacro e profano'.Ref.
