Personnel by Sheral Robinson [email protected] [email protected]

We currently have several listing for openings please contact me if you are interested.

Please let me know if you have an opening in your office as we do have several people looking. You may call

or email me.

Please note that all inquires will be held in strict confidence.

The Legislative meeting is September 13th and our guest speaker will be Julia O’Donoghue.

Ms. O’Donoghue is a political reporter, based in Baton Rouge, for the Times Picayune and

NOLA.com. Many new laws were effective 8/1/18 and she will talk about some important

ones.

As of Tuesday, August 16, we have 83 members total. I know we are losing several members to out-of-town

moves and job changes, so I have set my membership goal to get us back to 90 members.

Please help me reach my goal by talking to your coworkers and industry colleagues about the benefits of being

part of our organization. We’ve got something for everyone’s level of commitment – you can simply attend

the monthly dinner meetings during the year; you can join a committee to help keep our various programs

functioning; you can take a leadership role within the organization to determine where and how we use our

resources for our members’ benefit; or you can do all that AND attend conferences at the regional and national

level of our parent organization, IAIP.

While we will be having a New Member Social in March 2019, I ask you to encourage your industry friends

to check out our group in the coming months – invite them to attend a dinner meeting, the golf tournament, the

community rebuilding project, or the charitable giving event.

Feel free to pass along my name to anyone who is interested, or give me their contact information so I can

reach out to them with a prospect packet. Thanks for your help, and let’s have a great year!

The Insurance Professional of Greater New Orleans

August 2018 General Meeting Minutes The August General Meeting of the Insurance Professionals of Greater New Orleans came to order at 6:07 pm. All Board Members were present except Karen Cottone and Pamela Geraci. Monique O’Neil led the Collect and Pledge of Allegiance The minutes of the May General meeting were published in the Tattler. Are there any corrections to the minutes? Hear-ing none, the minutes are approved.

Officers Reports Correspondence – None Treasurer: Karen Crouch presented the May, June and July treasurer’s report. Are there any questions concerning the treasurer’s report? Hearing none, the report will be filed for audit. President: Courtney Donato – Courtney welcomed everyone to her first meeting and recognized the past presidents in attendance. Courtney discussed a change in how TIPOGNO Bucks were to be handled this year. Instead of pulling for two $5 bucks at the end of the meetings, we are going to now pull for a free meeting at the next meeting. We are going to give it a try this way and if at the end of the year it is not working we can go back to the way it was previously done or come up with something new. Our Wine raffle which was to be held in October will now be held in November. The per-sons handling this event had a conflict with the date of the October meeting. Our October meeting will still be our Can-cer Awareness meeting, and she invited everyone to “Still Wear Pink”. Courtney also noted that she had updated copies of the Annual Calendar. President-Elect: – Chad Harrington – Courtney reported for Chad that the Summer Function was held on 07/28/18 at All Barn New. Had about 15 members in attendance and a good time was had by all. Safety/Wellness by Jeff Rhodes [email protected]

Late summer is when hurricane season generally peaks, with major storms threatening the

Gulf Coast. Here are some tips from the National Hurricane Center to be prepared for the next

big one.

Keep a list of emergency contacts handy, such as : Emergency Management Offices, Parish

Law Enforcement, Parish Public Safety Fire/Rescue, State, Parish and City/Town

Government, Local Hospitals, Your property insurance agent

Check your hazards risks with FEMA's Map Portal.

Rate your flood risk with the FloodSmart.gov portal.

Protect yourself and family with a Family Emergency Plan

Be sure to plan for locations away from home

Pet owners should have plans to care for their animals. The Centers for Disease Control &

Prevention offer information on animal health impacts in evacuation shelters.

Prepare your boat and be aware of marine safety if you are on or near the water.

Review the FEMA Evacuation Guidelines to allow for enough time to pack and inform

friends and family if you need to leave your home. FOLLOW instructions issued by local

officials. Leave immediately if ordered!

Consider your protection options to decide whether to stay or evacuate your home if you

are not ordered to evacuate
