Title: Toothbrush Log Line A new toothbrush suffers from muss hair after moving to a new home, she overcomes despair with an electric toothbrush. Synopsis This story is an love story animation about two toothbrushes who overcome a series obstacle, especial the Muss Hair challenge then fall in love. The theme is love. Miss toothbrush moves to a new home, she admires herself in front of mirror and imagines herself with various hairstyles just like the beautiful women she saw in supermarket. One day, she finds her hair is twisted. She stares at the mirror as she cannot believe who that is. After awhile, she screams because she is so scared. She cares about her beauty so much, she cannot bear that. She cries and hides in the cup to escapes from the mirror and master’s hands. the master is confused, he looks at the twisted brushes. Next day, he buys a new one, Mr. toothbrush. When Miss toothbrush sees the master puts the new one on a desk. She feels hopeless, she starts to realise escaping reality doesn’t make any sense, she went to a hair salon, a hairdresser makes her beautiful again. The Miss gets confidence and goes back to accompany the master again. Because of this, the master puts the Mr. into cabinet, that makes the Mr. jealous. The master gives the Mr. to his girlfriend, so Miss and Mr. start to share the washing room. The Mr. is very aggressive, he laughs the Miss when her hair is twisted; He rubs the her when he is full of foams; he claims nobody wants an old style toothbrush. The Miss is grieved, she cries at a corner when the night comes. The Mr. hears her sobs, he feels Guilty. He leaves his power charger and hits a roll of tissue, let it roll to the Miss. the Miss stares at the tissue, then she stops crying gradually. Next day, the Miss wakes up, she saw the Mr. smiles (very hard to smile) to her. They looked at each other and have nothing to say. A loud noise breaks the silence, the master has a strong argument with her girlfriend, the rush in the bathroom, she holds the Mr. and finds it doesn’t work because of low battery. Then she throws it, the gift, on ground. The master runs into bathroom while the girl leaves. He has a glance at the broken toothbrush, then the chases the girl. The Miss is shocked, she looks at the pieces on ground. The Mr. looks like totally broken. She tries to wake him up but he doesn’t response. The master comes back in the evening, he looks at the debris on the ground, having a deep sigh, then he leaves. The Miss has no idea about this situation. She looks around , then she knocks each drawer and cabinet with her head. Cosmetics, waterproof tapes and other items wake up, the bathroom become crowded. They look after the Mr. together. The Mr. opens his eyes, he hears cheer and sees the Miss whose hair is a muss. With help, he moves back to the power charger slowly. Items come back to their places to have a rest, leaving the Miss and the Mr. alone. The Mr. apologises to the Miss, the Miss accompanies him until he falls asleep.

After a few days, the master comes in with heavy dark pouches. He is shocked when he looks at the Mr. , he stands there for a while, then he holds the bandaged Mr. and runs out. He finds the girl and apologise to her. The girl smiles when she saw the bandaged toothbrush. She takes the gift and comes back. The Miss and the Mr. starts a happy life. Rationale I write this script for kids who dislike toothbrushes just like me. When I was a little kid, my mother tried many ways to encourage me to brush teeth every day. She bought cute pink toothbrush with lovely Hello Kitty pattern, strawberry odor toothpaste and Snoopy-shaped cup for me, but I just hesitated to use them. When I reviewed this period, I think the main reason is I didn’t trust those items. I dared not to put unknown things into my moths. By contrast, I liked to harbor my Barbie and Bugs Bunny toy and kiss them. So the idea creating a character to build friendship between toothbrushes and their little masters has been in my mind for a long time. One day, I read a news that a British hairdresser offers homeless people free haircuts. I’m touched by his story. His action is not just provide these transparent people new hairstyles, but kindness, confidence and courage. We all ever experienced failure, despair or a hard time when we just want to give up, so we do need help from others at a specific moment. A little kindness can warm this society. When I combine the hairdresser story with my own experience, the story comes. We all have a desire to be loved and understood, to succeed, survive, be free, get revenge, right wrongs, or seek self-expression. Vogler describes these universal drives as Heroes qualities in his book The Writer’s Journey(2007). So the personality of the protagonist appears, she is shy, easy to get hurt. She tries to be perfect, she needs to be brave.

I choose animation as the media because I’m interested in anthropomorphism and zoomorphism. I like the universal metamorphism rules that anything can become something else (McKee, 2006). A toothbrush can be a lovely partner, you would never know it ever cares about its

hairstyle or it cries at night when you decide to throw it to bin just because you dislike its colour, it is green with envy when you buy a new one. Items will have activities when you are not at home. Cartoon style can be very attractive to youth market. The success of many Disney films has proved it, such Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Toy Story or Zootopia. Besides making people laugh, I think the education function is also important. In Ikea lamp ads, it appeals to value the items rather than dropping them when they still be able to work. in De Liji commercial ads, it appeals to be a unity. With metamorphism, we become a total different character for a while and see a new world with its eyes. That’s another important reason to choose a lifeless item as protagonist rather than the master.

The theme is love. It’s more about love yourself. You are not able to love others unless you start to value yourself. If you think you are a loser, negative emotions will damage a good relationship. It is not a new phenomenon that youth care too much about appearance, especially girls. When the Miss knocks each drawer and cabinet with head and her hair is a muss, she grows up.
