• In this task I had to look at the title sequence of a film of my choice. I chose the film Enemy of the state which is also a thriller film. The font used for the titles in the opening sequence is Garson yu. With this film I needed an A3 sheet to create a timeline to show the structure of the title sequence.

Structure of the title sequence • The first title that appears in the opening sequence is

the title of the film. Next comes the main character which is Will Smith, along with the other characters in the film. After all the actors’ names are introduced, then comes the person who organised the cast and then the person who did the music. The title sequence also shows the costume designer, the film editor, product designer and director of photography. Lastly, the executive producer, producer, writer and director is introduced in the title sequence.

What are the expectations created through the cast, director and film companies?• The expectations created through the cast is to have a

protagonist against an antagonist and a topic/theme of why they are against each other. The director uses the cast to create a storyline which emphasises the genre of thriller creating suspense and anticipation for the audience. The role of film companies is to produce the film and persuade people to watch it. The persuasion can be done through posters and advertisement.

What can I learn?• From this task I can learn that when each title of the title sequence appears

on screen there is always a scene happening and a soundtrack to accompany it. For all the names of the actor the common events that were happening were busy roads, police cars, blurred scene, flashes into the next scenes, use of zoom in devices, technical music, nature and incidents. When the we see “Casting by” or “Music by” the music becomes intense. The camera light changes when we see the names of the product designer and director of photography. The music becomes soft and less incidents happen when we see the names of the producer, writer and director.
