Virl is the classic science fiction series by Dick Matena. The first stories of Virl appeared in 1977, and recently Dick Matena concluded the series with his latest story ‘The Asylum’. All 4 books are available for licensing.
Virl is an astronaut from Terra, the new name for Earth, who is banished to a strange and dange-rous new world. Virl’s attempts to return to Terra find him traversing the universe with new friends, careering from one crazy adventure to another.
Dick Matena is one of the most famous Dutch artists and his work has been published all over the world. He has recently been decorated as ‘A Living National Treasure’ for his outstanding comic work.

The complete series (Volumes 1 to 6) has been digitally restored and recoloured and features brand new covers. The beautiful artwork of Eric Heuvel is a tribute to the classic Hergé style and the stories of Martin Lodewijk are complete in every detail and plot twist. Volume 7 will come out in March 2015.

Agent 327 is almost like a cult figure in the
Netherlands. The history of this secret
agent goes back tot the seventies, when
he started his career as a comical version
of the legendary James Bond. Since then
its fans eagerly await every next story.
Agent 327 is a creation of Martin Lodewijk,
a legend in his own right. He is the god-
father of the Dutch comic, who has been
involved in many great series, such as
Storm, January Jones and of course
Agent 327. His adventures lead to ex-
otic locations, just like those of his
British colleague, and his sidekick
is the beautiful Olga Lawina,
also very much like his British
colleague. But unlike his Brit-
ish colleague Agent 327
is not so much in con-
trol. Nevertheless,
with a bit of slap-
stick, funny twists
and clever ideas
he always saves
the situation.
SIGMUNDFor twenty years now he has been curing
people. Or making their lives even more
miserable. Sigmund is a psychiatrist who
prefers shock therapy. Being rude to people
is the best medicine. At least it makes the
readers of the gag Sigmund laugh, and as
we all know laughing is very healthy.
Sigmund is written and drawn by Peter de
Wit, one of the big names in Dutch com-
ics. The series made its debut over twenty
years ago in de Volkskrant, a national news-
paper in the Netherlands, and the readers
never missed a therapy session since. Actu-
ally, they can’t start a working day properly
without Sigmund and a good cup of coffee.
