Current Need

Our Mission In the Bridge Project, we believe that everyone deserves the right to have access to essential
life resources. We are increasing hope and transforming lives in cutoff communities by de-
signing bridges, and helping the local communities construct them in essential locations.
Current Design

People are unable to safely travel to the main road
where food and supplies can be purchased.
The need is confirmed by an existing bridge, built by the locals,
which is hazardous. (Shown in the picture to the right.)
The need was first expressed by the Mayor of the municipality and our partnering organiza-
tion, Rio Missions.
People are unable to safely cross into Bajo Grande, the central town where the only school
and medical center for the area are located.
Community of Arraijan cut off from Church, Community
Center, and clean water source by a deep ravine.
Our team designed a 40 ft timber truss to provide the
community with safe transportation across the unsafe ra-
vine (seen in the photo below).
230 ft cable suspended bridge
Cast-in-place reinforced concrete anchors
1 1/8 in. diameter cables
Stone masonry footers and tiers
Concrete-filled reinforced CMU towers
Timber decking consisting of 4x4, 2x6, 2x8 size boards
Will be constructed during a six construction week trip
From May 18 to June 30, 2015
