What is the Title IV-E Program?TheSchoolofSocialWorkatTexasStateUniversity,inconjunc-tionwiththeCenterforChildrenandFamilies,offersindividual-ized,specializedtraininginchildwelfarethroughacontractwithTitleIV-EoftheSocialSecurityAct.

ThiscontractenablesqualifiedBSWorMSWstudentstobuildandenhanceprofessionalskillsinfostercaremanagement,adoptionassistanceandcasemanagement.StudentsalsoreceivecomprehensivefieldplacementintheCentralTexasarea.

Inexchangeforafundedinternship,theIV-EscholarisrequiredupongraduationtofulfillanemploymentcontractwiththeTexasDepartmentofFamilyandProtectiveServices(DFPS)ChildProtec-tiveServicesprogram.NOTE:AIV-EscholarwhofailstocompletethisobligationisrequiredbylawtorepaytheStateofTexas.

CurrentCPSemployeeswhowishtopursuesocialworkeduca-tionmustcontacttheirsupervisorsforagencyguidelines.Tuitionandfeesareavailableforqualifiedagencyanduniversity-approvedapplicants.

Childwelfaresocialworkers,afterintensivetraining,dealwithchildrenandtheirfamilies,courts,lawenforcement,medicalinstitutionsandschools,allinthecontextofpublicchildwelfareandfamilypolicy.Thesesocialworkersperformamyriadoftasksincomplexfamilysituations,including:

• Assessingchildwell-beingandsafety

• Preparinganddeliveringcourtdocumentsandtestimony

• Providingcasemanagementservices

• Referringclientstoneededresources

• Developingandmonitoringfostercareandadoptiveplacements

• Trainingfosterfamiliesandadoptivefamilies

•Organizingcommunitiestocreatehealthierenvironmentsforchildren

•Planningandadvocatingforeffectivechildwelfarepoliciesandprograms
