pending on your kindness and generosity to drop in your envelopes whenever you can. Your
regular support to our parish with your envelopes is always much appreciated. God bless you for your kindness and

In these modern times as well some of you may find it easier to set up a Direct Debt. Direct Debit Forms, specially
designed for our parish are now available on a table at the side door of Glenfin chapel. On these forms are all the details
needed, if you would like to use them for 2021. Bank will probably ask you to do it online.Thank you very much in-
deed for all that you do personally for our parish. God will reward your efforts. Thank you. Fr. Lorcan
Commentary on Mark 1: 14-20
LAST SUNDAY we saw the call of two disciples
and we considered the nature of God’s call and
how he calls each one of us. In today’s Mass we
again look at Jesus calling disciples and see how
they responded to that call. Today’s Gospel is in
two parts: A. the call and the challenge B. re-
sponses to the call. The setting of today’s gospel
is immediately after Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan,
when he received the endorsement of his Father and was filled with the Spirit of
God. John the Baptist has been recently arrested, literally “handed over”. As Jesus
himself will be and his followers after him. We are reminded of this in the conse-
cration of every Mass: “This is my Body which will be handed over for you.”
So now Jesus, in Galilee, begins his public life and mission. He begins to proclaim
the Good News, the Gospel. It is summed up very simply in two lines: The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near, and Repent and believe in the
good news. ‘Repent’ here is more than just being sorry for the past; it involves a
radical conversion a change of direction and priorities in my life. It is a turning
from but much more a turning to. It means believing in and truly accepting the
Good News.
Offertory Donations: Sundays December 27th + January 3rd & 10th—total received was
€1290.20. Sunday 17th €430 Thank you. Please keep up your support as the year goes on.
God bless you. Fr. Lorcan
Candlemas Day—Tuesday week-2nd February—Mass @ 7 p.m. Candles will be blessed in the traditional way that day—the Feast of the Pres-
entation of Our Lord. If you would like to have candles blessed they are avail-
able in the chapel—€1 each or 6 for €5. There is a table near the altar for you
to leave your candles for blessing with your name attached to your bundle.
