Volume 11, Issue 18
SASEAS families,
After the joy of Christmas, Ordinary Time has arrived. (But the JOY continues!) Did you know that Ordinary Time takes its
name not from being common or the opposite of extraordinary? The Latin word ordinalis, which refers to numbers in a series,
stems from the Latin word ordo, from which we get the English word order. Ordinary Time is quite simply “counted time.” It
is during this time each week at Mass that we follow along with Jesus’ ministry in the Gospels as we reflect on His life so
beautifully lived. May this Ordinary Time be a time of continued conversion for you! Father Mike Schmitz has a perfect video
for us as we begin a new year, “Learning from Our Past.” Check it out here.
Congratulations to our St. Andrew campus Character Award honorees who were selected for the trait of JOY: Thomas Biel,
Sophie Canter, Meredith Evans, Emma Grome, Aiden Holtman, and Courtney Ruesink. Also, congrats go out to our nominated
Saints of the Month at Seton: Katy Hill, Bobbylee Slone, Carson Brown, Reece Chamberlin, Cassie Durham, Maddie Griffis,
Oliver Grogan, Connor Powderly, Jamison Schlosser, Catherine Strouble, Elizabeth Strouble, Lauren Suddendorf, Louis
Wenstrup, and Marcella Wenstrup.
Our staff has been working hard to prepare for our very important accreditation review with the Ohio Catholic School
Accrediting Association which will take place February 15-16. A team of six principals will be reviewing our self-study,
mission/beliefs, goals, and school improvement plans. As a part of that review process, our mission statement has been slightly
altered to tighten the wording and provide clarity. You can view our updated mission and beliefs here.
We are again offering an incentive for actively recruiting new families to our school by offering an enrollment referral tuition
credit. You can earn $500 per each new K-8 family that you successfully refer, and the referred family does not have to pay the
registration fee. The specifics are on our website here.
Facebook users, you should be seeing a marked increase in our FB presence as we’ve taken out several paid ads targeting up to
30,000 people in the Milford area. Please share, share, share our posts and news! Let’s spread the word as best we can
regarding our January 29th Open House. Positive word-of-mouth is the most effective marketing tool we can employ!
Please see the tuition assistance information at the end of this Titan Times issue. There are three different types: EdChoice
Expansion via the State of Ohio, Tuition Grants up to $1,000 from the Archdiocese (new), and Parish/School General
Assistance. We want our school to be available to anyone desiring a Catholic education, so please let us know how we can help.
It’s a great time to be a Titan!
In Christ,
Mark Wilburn, Principal

Times for important information regarding Financial Aid
and other Grant Programs to assist our SASEAS School
families.
It is the desire of both St. Andrew and St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton parishes that any family who wants to send their
children to our school is given every opportunity and as much
aid as possible. We want every family to take advantage of
the excellent Catholic education that we offer.
Academically Excellent
The 7X Math class explored the relationship of angles. They
identified congruent angles formed by a transversal and had a
little fun using their desks as their work station! The students
had to use masking tape to lay out two parallel lines
intersected by a transversal. They took Expo markers to write
out the measurements and then verified the measurements
using what they know about supplementary angles and
vertical angles! Clean-up took no time at all!
7th grade began presenting their science fair projects to their
classmates. 8th grade students built Versoriums to explore
electric charge. 6th grade completed their 3D models of
topographic maps.
1st grade students are learning about penguins during science
and sculpting them during art class. 2nd grade students are
combining math and art as they fold and cut radial
symmetrical designs.
Passionately Catholic
We are praying a Novena this week and next for our school.
Please join us in prayer!
O Good and Gracious God, we praise and thank you for the
students in our parish school. It is a sacred privilege to
continue the teaching mission of your son, Jesus. We hear his
words in our hearts: “Let the children come to me! Do not
hinder them.” Please listen to our prayers as we ask you,
Lord, to remove whatever hinders parents from choosing our
Catholic school for their children. Guide their thinking and
their decisions. May parents see the great benefits of a
Catholic education that can last a lifetime. Bless our efforts.
Help us be a school for all. Lord, we hold in prayer all the
students you will send to our school. Thank you, Lord, for
blessing us with a future filled with promise and hope. Amen.

ST. ANDREW-ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON SCHOOL
EMERGENCY DELAY, CLOSING
AND EMERGENCY EARLY DISMISSAL
For specific questions/answers and additional information,
please see the Frequent Flyer or call either school campus.
Media? Watch for Milford Exempted Village School
procedures for 2 hour delays, closing and early dismissal.
During inclement weather we completely understand that
parents may make the decision to bring in their student late, or
not at all, for safety reasons. Those students are marked
‘excused’ although still marked ‘tardy’ or ‘absent’.
When ANY school district sends their buses to St. Andrew-St.
Elizabeth Ann Seton School for an early dismissal due to
inclement weather, students will be placed on that bus. The
exception would be students who do not ride the bus home after
school (car riders will be picked up at the early dismissal time
by their adult driver, who would know of the early dismissal
via an OptionC Parent Email/Phone Alert). Please be prepared
in the event of an emergency early dismissal.
