What is Tiscon ReadyBuild ? Tiscon ReadyBuild is a downstream service brand which provides customised solutions for all your construction needs related to rebars.

Project Details A major construction company whose manufacturing footprint extends across eight countries in addition to India was undertaking a project to construct an elevated corridor of 5.6km in Nasik. The total consumption of rebars was estimated at 14000 MT and balance 5000 MT rebars were to be procured.

The ChallengeThe flow of rebar management follows a basic pattern where a bar bending schedule (BBS) is based on reinforcement drawings and it then comes to the Reinforcement Reconciler. Finally, the BBS is sent to the yard in-charge for Cut and Bend with comments and at this stage itself the reconciler can take a call for ordering specific length.

The challenge in ordering specific length was that the reinforcement drawings usually arrived late thus delaying the BBS. Specific length could be ordered only once BBS was in place. Also the customer was concerned about the cost of the project.

The Tiscon ReadyBuild Solution

Tata Tiscon offered the solution of customized length to the client. Storage and handling was made easier at the site with this solution. As usage of full-length rebar is the last priority, customized length suited the project from all aspects.

A comparison of 13m and 12m rebars showed that the quantity required in case of 12m length was almost double than what was required in the case of 13m length. The customized length of 13m in specified section of 25mm reduced the investment cost to the tune of Rs.64 lakh.
