The overall objectives of the record book award program are to help the 4- Her to develop leadership skills, build character, assume citizenship responsi- bilities, explore career, job and productive leisure opportunities, develop skills, knowledge and attitudes for life-long use, learn to use accepted practices for mental, physical and emotional health and to respect oneself and others and lastly, to share knowledge gained with others. A completed record book includes the member's 4-H Story, the Texas Report form in which they give a detailed account of up to four 4-H projects, as well as their leadership, community service, school and other activities, and their picture story which includes photos of their projects and other activities. 4-H member's books that placed first in their categories will advance to District 11 competition in Edna on July 8. These members include in the Senior Division: Ginger Case, Exotic Animals; Andrew Koch, Gardening and Horti- culture; Penny Krueger, Rabbits; Brandy Tuck, Achievement; andLora Wei- shuhn, Leadership. Junior members advancing to district include: Patti Koch, Gardening and Horticulture; Margie Leopold, Turkeys; Stacy Markwardt, Rabbits; Matthew Ross, Shooting Sports; Roxanne Roesler, Meat Goats; and Erica Trojacek, Consumer Education. Lauren Trojacek, a sub-junior, will also advance with her Consumer Education book. Other 4-H members participating in the competition included senior members Tabitha Connor, Amanda Janik and Jermal Wright; junior members Chris Kulhanek, Ashley Parker and Garrett Poncik; and sub-junior members LaKerrica Hancock and Jacob Weishuhn. All members who completed record books will be recognized at the annual 4-H Awards Banquet which will be held Sept. 26, 1998. These members are also eligible to apply for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Star Awards. 4-H Rifle Project The Colorado 4-H Rifle Project had a successful 1998 season. 4-H'ers competed at invitationals and five 4-H'ers went on to compete at the Coastal Bend District 4-H Rifle Match. Those participants shooting in the sub-junior and the super sub-junior divisions, shoot three targets all in the prone position.
