Comply with the conditions of the Lantau Closed Road Permit, and leave the closed roads (i.e. all roads south of Tung Chung Road junction with Shek Mun Kap Road) before 7 p.m.

Roads in South Lantau are mainly single 2-lane

carriageways for 2-way traffic, and some road sections are relatively narrow and winding. Before entering South Lantau, check your car (especially its braking system) to ensure it functions properly. Please also obtain the contact of a towing company that is permitted to enter South Lantau in case of need.

Fully charge or fill up the fuel tank before entering South

Lantau. Currently there is no charging facility for electric vehicles in South Lantau. The petrol filling station is at Mui Wo Ferry Pier Road.

If you need to stop your car on roadside, stop at laybys

as far as practicable.

Use low gear when driving downhill.

Drive slowly when negotiating at road bends, and pay attention to head-on vehicles. Long vehicles may straddle the centre-line when negotiating road bends.

Heavy vehicles and bicycles may travel at a slower

speed when going uphill. Franchised buses may pick up or set down passengers at the bus stops on roadside where bus bays are not available. Be patient and avoid overtaking as far as possible. If you need to overtake, please be extra cautious.

Pay attention to the speed limit of roads while you drive.

The speed limit at certain sections is 30 kilometres per hour. Some of the roads in South Lantau are installed with speed enforcement cameras.

Access roads to villages are very narrow in general.

Please do not enter the narrow village roads to avoid causing obstruction.
