TIPS REMOTE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER WORKSHOPS

BECOME AN ON STAFF TRAINER!

Why are our Remote Train-the-Trainer workshops so popular? Because… • You can attend conveniently from home,

work, or wherever you have WiFi and a computer.

• There are so many workshops available that you can pick one any week.

• The material is identical to the material used in the in-person workshop.

• These workshops are taught by our Master Trainer, Larry Moore.

Remote Train-the-Trainer workshops are a great option for businesses that need to get a trainer on staff and up and running quickly or for those getting back into training. We have several workshops scheduled for the remainder of the year so if the week you’re looking for is full, another workshop will be available. Please visit our website to register for a workshop that fits in your schedule!

2021 has been a year of joy with more people entertaining, rescheduling weddings and celebrating every event they missed in 2020. So with football season in full swing and Halloween around the bend, here are some reminders to help you have a safe and enjoyable party:

1. Control access to the alcohol you provide.

• Avoid serving from common sources such as kegs or punch bowls.

• Consider hiring a trained professional to serve drinks at your party.

• Be sure that whoever pours the drinks is not consuming alcohol and monitors the other guests’ consumption.

2. Offer soft drinks, fruit juices, bottled water and coffee so guests have an alternative to alcohol.

3. Allow guests to have only one drink at a time. Discourage competitive or rapid drinking.

4. Provide plenty of appetizers, snacks and other food.

Page 6

TIPS FOR HOSTING RESPONSIBLY

5. Encourage interest in the football game (rather than drinking alcohol) as the primary focus of the party.

6. Request identification from anyone who appears to be 35 years of age or younger. Guests who cannot present a valid form of ID should not be given any alcohol.

7. Model appropriate behavior for your guests and be sure to communicate that becoming intoxicated is not the goal of the party.

8. Stop serving alcohol at least one hour before the party ends. Encourage guests to stay and enjoy a soft drink or coffee.

9. Make sure anyone who is visibly intoxicated does not receive any more alcohol and is not left alone. Even if the guest is not driving, an impaired guest can be injured or injure others in many ways, not just in automobile accidents.

10. When necessary, find alternative transportation for impaired guests.

TIPS ALCOHOL EDUCATION: A GIFT FOR THE COMMUNITY

Year end is fast approaching. It’s a good time to review your remaining grant dollars and put them to work for you. Workshops are a great way to invest these funds to provide alcohol education and train in the prevention of underage drinking. Whether through Train-the-Trainer Workshops or eTIPS Pre-Paid Passports, TIPS training can help your agency develop and implement effective alcohol-education programs. Feel free to contact the Account Manager for your state to learn more!

ALCOHOL LAWS & REGULATIONS If you have your finger on the pulse of decision making in your state, you probably are aware of the continued fluctuations in policies and regulations related to carry out and alcohol to-go, vaccination requirements, and celebratory gatherings. Not all of those changes make it to the written state alcohol laws and regulations, so it’s important to be aware of those that are approved by state legislatures and those that are not. Find State Laws & Regulations here. Select your state for more detailed information.

The Hospitality Industry Needs Additional Support!

As Congress returns for a busy fall with major legislative deadlines, we must continue to advocate for maximum relief for distillers and the hospitality industry! Join us in urging Congress to support hospitality industry businesses – including restaurants, bars and distilleries that depend on on-site sales by taking action HERE! High demand for limited Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) resources has meant that many struggling businesses have been unable to access much-needed support. Additional funding for the RRF is critical to ensuring the hospitality industry’s recovery. Without further relief, many hospitality businesses may be forced to close their doors permanently. These businesses support countless jobs in communities and contribute to vibrant main streets across the country. We appreciate congressional support for the RRF, but it is clear the hospitality industry is in need of additional support. Join us in urging your members of Congress to support additional funding for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund by passing the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act.

We are very excited to share that TIPS has joined the 360training family of businesses. We firmly believe this will be an incredible opportunity for you, as a Trainer, and for the TIPS program by providing you with access to a full array of online food safety programs that could help your business. As Tom Anderson, CEO of 360training, stated, “By combining our resources, we’re able to enhance public safety for communities across the nation.” And that’s precisely what we will do! 360training will maintain the mission of TIPS to enhance public safety through education about the responsible sale, service, and consumption of alcohol. We will continue supporting all existing partnerships and programs to ensure no lapse in the quality of products and care you receive when working with or buying from TIPS. All current TIPS programs will continue without disruption, and there are no significant foreseeable changes. What does this mean for you? 1. We will still offer Classroom training!

There is an immeasurable added value to providing classroom instruction. Your extensive experience in the food and beverage industry enhances the learning experience and helps participants develop the confidence that they too can overcome any challenge they may face. We will continue to support you and provide the resources you need to succeed in your role.

TIPS JOINS THE 360TRAINING FAMILY OF BUSINESSES

2. Over time, you will see improvements made. 360training understands and appreciates the

importance of continuity and reliability in business. However, we also recognize that we can improve the overall user experience and user interface of the training portal. By streamlining specific processes and procedures and enhancing some tools and reports, our changes will make the process of managing your employees' training more straightforward and less time-consuming.

3. You can expect the same degree of excellence from our alcohol training courses.

The courses will have the same outstanding presentation, easy-to-understand modules, and helpful reinforcement quizzes. We are working diligently to ensure the only changes made to TIPS are positive, like lower prices, a better LMS for businesses, and superior website navigation.

That said, we welcome feedback and suggestions about what information and tools you/your business would like to see moving forward. We will continue to work hard to meet your training needs with the goal of preventing intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving. As always, we are here to provide you with the support and information you need at 800-438-8477 Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:15 PM EST or visit our website.

Page 11: TIPS JOINS 360TRAINING.COM FAMILY OF BUSINESSES In This …

As you can see, there are several training options available that enable you to maintain your training program even during these trying times. We are here to help if you have any questions!

FEATURE HELPFUL TIP INSTRUCTIONS

OPTION 1: Fully Remote

Vouchers are purchased in advance

for $16 each.

If you have an inventory of manuals, they never expire and can be used at a later

date.

Many jurisdictions have regulations limiting gathering size. You can offer participants fully remote training sessions and online exams. This option allows you to: • Present the TIPS program using your favorite online conferencing service. • Provide access to the certification exam online with TIPS Exam Vouchers. The course materials are already available in your Training Portal. As an added benefit, exam results are immediately available to the participant.

OPTION 2: Remote Course / Online

Proctoring

This option works great if you have only

a few people who need certification.

If you would like to use your existing Participant Manuals, you can offer a proctored, oral exam. With this option: • Distribute the manuals in advance. • Conduct the training session online as in OPTION 1. • Upon completion, provide the exam either orally or present the questions

on your screen. Participants will then return the exam forms to you, and you send in the session documents to be processed as you normally would. WARNING: It is forbidden, yes FORBIDDEN, to provide printed or digital copies of the exam to individuals outside of your session. So, do not print the exam and give it to any individual. This is to ensure exam and system integrity.

OPTION 3: Remote

Course / In Person Exam

This option enables you to limit exposure

to larger groups of individuals while maintaining the integrity of your testing method.

Depending on the jurisdiction, you may be permitted to gather in small groups but you may prefer not to schedule several small sessions. In this case, you can hold a larger remote session, as in the options above, and proctor the exam for smaller groups. For this option: • Be sure to remove the exam forms from the back of the manuals. • Distribute the manuals in advance. • Conduct the session online as in OPTION 2. • Upon completion, schedule as many or as few people as you feel

comfortable to come into your establishment to take the exam in person. This option provides the ability for you to assist those who may need help during the exam (no giving answers!).

REMOTE / IN-PERSON TRAINING OPTIONS Organizations all across the world are using remote TIPS training to prepare their staff to sell and serve alcohol responsibly. TIPS training is even more important now as jurisdictions and economies reopen. To effectively use this time of transition, we offer several options to assist in training new staff and ensuring individual certifications are up to date. The training options below seamlessly provide high-quality, engaging, and effective training, even if you are not in the same room as your participants.
