Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Atlanta Hawks in the first of three regular season meetings. Since 2003-04, the Cavs have won 20 of the 26 games played against the Hawks, including the last six at Quicken Loans Arena. The last time these two teams met at The Q, Mo Williams scored 24 points and J.J. Hickson grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds to lead Cleveland to a 93-88 win on April 2, 2010. The Cavs are 93-103 all-time against Atlanta, including 59-43 at home.

So far this season, the Cavs have received a huge contribution from their bench, as the reserves are averaging 41.7 points per game. Daniel Gibson, who tallied 20 points and seven assists on Saturday against Sacramento, has played a prominent role off the bench and is averaging team highs of 15.0 points and 6.0 assists per game. Gibson is one of only three reserve players in the NBA to lead his team in scoring this season (Detroit’s Ben Gordon and Philadelphia’s Lou Williams). After tonight, the Cavaliers will go on a three-game road trip beginning with Philadelphia on Friday.

The Hawks are off to a 3-0 start with Joe Johnson leading the team with 23.0 points per game. Atlanta is one of the NBA’s best offensive teams, averaging 107.3 points, while also shooting a league-best .859 from the charity stripe. On the defensive end, Hawks forward Josh Smith is averaging an NBA-high 4.3 blocks per game. The Cavs and Hawks next meeting will be on Dec. 22 at Philips Arena.
