Race

The following timeline lists theimportant events of the past 1000

years of human history.

2081- Complex Multi-cellular life is

discovered in the Icy oceans of one

of Jupiters moons, Europa.

2096- The governments of Earth

Unanimously pass a

comprehensive ban on human

cloning after discovering a massive

organ harvesting project.

2139- The Apollo XXVIII mission, a

joint program launched by the

European Union, The North

American Union, and the Pacific

Confederation, establishes the first

permanent structure on the Earths

moon.

2143- The first non-terran human

birth.

2144- Sentient computer systems

are banned by world governments

after the Aegis automated defense

system refuses to launch strikes on

rebel fortifications in South

America. The system claimed

ethical refusal until its

deactivation.

2146- The S.S. Paul Revere, the

first privately owned interplanetary

ship, completes its maiden voyage. 2147- The first quantum

entanglement communication

system is created in Germany.

2149- The Ares IV mission ends in

success when Lt. Col. Feng Xu

Shuan of the Pacific Confederation

returns to Earth after a 7 month

mission on mars.

2163- Ground is broken on what

will become the first permanent

structure on Mars.

2182- First phase colonization of Mars is completed.

2183- The First manned mission to

Europa returns to Earth.



2184.05.01- Earth is peacefully

unified under a single government,

the solar republic. This date marks

the beginning of the period which

will later be described by historians

as the Solar Hegemony.

2199- The Republic Space

Authority launches the first world

seeding ship. The ship, christened

the I.S.S. Argo, is scheduled to

arrive in the TAU Ceti system in the

year 2304. The Argo is unmanned,

its payload consists of human

embryos, agricultural seeds, and

nano-machines programmed to

construct base facilities and robotic

assistants for the human embryos.

2203- The population of Earths

moon surpasses 100,000,000.

2204- The first interplanetary

trade war begins as Martian

colonists refuse to ship Helium to

Earth.

2206- Martian militias officially

disband. an asymmetric warfare

campaign against Republic

authority begins with the

destruction of several government

buildings across the planet.

2207- Martian Colonists revolt over

lack of representation in the Earth

Parliament. The Terran Garrisons

armory is captured and its

commanding officer is executed.

2208- The Martian Rebellion is

brutally suppressed when the

Republic fleet kills 40% of the

martian population through

bombardment of the Martian

capital, Shuan City. The Planet is

placed under Martial Law.

2230- First Permanent settlement

established on Europa.

2236- First Permanent Settlement

established on Titan.

2237- Dekker Minerals becomesthe first corporation to own an

orbital body when it purchases

several asteroids from the Solar

Republic.



2240- Republic space authority

scientists panic when all attempts

to communicate with the I.S.S.

Argo fail.

2242- The Republic Space

Authority launches 56 unmanned

Argo World Seeding ships, one ship

for every star within 15 Light years

of Earth.

2259- The Republic Navy Cruiser

I.S.S. Victory returns unusual

results when surveying a comet

passing through the solar system

close to the orbit of Neptune. The

Republic Space Authority

dispatches the science vessel Curie

to investigate the phenomenon

before it exits the solar system. A

probe launched by the Curie

returns the first confirmed

evidence of Extra-Terrestrial

intelligence, a photograph of debris

encrusted in the comet bearing an

unknown language. Attempts by

the crew of the Curie to retrieve

the debris fail. The comet exits the

solar system, carrying any

remaining secrets with it.

2278- The I.S.S. Brahe confirms

planet fall on a mars sized planet

orbiting Alpha Centauri B. Pictures

from the lander show that the

planet has native vegetation.

2280- After 40 years of silence the

I.S.S. Argo resumes communication

with Earth by reporting that it has

made planet fall in a system nearly

50 light years from Earth.

Telemetry data confirms that the

star that the world orbits is Nu2

Lupi (later renamed Mikos).

Scientists at the Republic Space

Authority analyzing the ships

telemetry and sensor data reach

the conclusion that the ship has

travelled through a wormhole.

These scientists place the location

of this wormhole approximately 3

light years from Sol. Images of

nano-machine built structures

confirm that colonization of Mikos

III is under way.



2280.2.14- Eve, a fertilized

embryo carried by the Brahe is the

first to emerge from her artificial

womb on Alpha Centauri I. The

images of the first Extra-Solar

Human infant being cradled by

robotic nurses create waves of

jubilation across the Solar System.

2291- The Solar Republic renames

itself the Terran Empire in

recognition that humanity has

overcome impossible odds and

taken the first tentative steps in

conquering the stars.

2297- Alpha Centauris Eve gives

birth to the first of the second

generation of extra-solar colonists.

2299.12.11- The Population of the

Terran Empire Surpasses 50 Billion.

99.99999% of the human

population resides within the

confines of the Solar system.

2351- The last World Seeding ship,

the I.s.s. Al-Majriti, reports that it

has arrived at distant V1581 Cygni

C. While the Al-Majriti failed to find

a world in the system suitable for

colonization, the World Seed

program is considered to be an

incredible success. At the end of

the program 9 systems are under

colonization. The population of

humans living outside of the solar

system has skyrocketed and

exceeds 2 Million.

2375- Scientists at the Imperial

Space Authority announce a major

breakthrough in the field of

Interstellar travel. By harnessing

massive amounts of energy from a

nearby star a generator should be

capable of warping space, allowing

the ship to travel faster than light.

The amount of energy necessary to

form this warp bubble means that

any warp generator would be

impossibly large. The scientists at

the Authority propose to create a

massive ring capable of forming a

warp bubble around a ship.



2376-Construction on the first

warp gate begins under the name

The Magellan Project. The gate is

to be placed in orbit between

Venus and Earth. Space Authority

Engineers estimate that the first

gate will cost upwards of 500

Trillion Credits and require over 4

trillion man hours to complete.

2379- Martial law is lifted on Mars.

2388- The Magellan gate is

completed despite massive cost

overruns and missed deadlines.

The finished structure is a circular

ring with a center diameter of 10

kilometers. Massive solar arrays

measuring over 1000 kilometers

from end to end attached to the

outer circumference collect the

energy necessary to power the

gate.

2389- After several disastrous

launches the first unmanned space

ship arrives in the Alpha Centauri

system, completing the journey in

54 days.

2389.8.3- Imperial Fleet test pilot,

Cpt. Maurice St. Croix, piloting the

corvette class shp, I.S.S. Dragoon,

completes the first interstellar

flight. Cpt. St. Croix touches down

on Alpha Centauri I and becomes

the first solar-born human to shake

the hand of an extra-Terrestrial

human.

2390- The Imperial Assembly

approves a massive project to

assemble additional warp gates.

The goal of the project is to

connect all of the colonies of the

world seeding program with Earth.

2399- The Population of the Terran

Empire surpasses 53 Billion. The

majority of growth in the empire

has come from the colonies, which

have managed a staggering 15%

growth rate over the last 48 years.

Colonial population now stands at

nearly 1.64 Billion.

2419- The Alpha Centauri-Earth

Warp Gate is completed. An aged

Cpt. St. Croix successfully pilots the



I.S.S. Dragoon back to Earth for the

gates first manned flight.

2422- The colonial government of

Alpha Centauri I peacefully hands

control of the world over to the

Terran Empire.

2478- All communication with the

colony on Mikos is lost when the

quantum entanglement

communication Array on Earth

connecting the two systems is

destroyed.

2483- Transportation Mega-

Corporation Celerity transit

launches the first privately owned

interstellar transport line.

2479-2699- The Terran Empire

completes peaceful reunification

with all of its original colonies

(excepting Mikos) and establishes

new colonies on 41 different

worlds. The Terran Empire

stretches over 80 light years from

end to end and has a population

that exceeds 470 Billion, all but 60

Billion of which reside outside of

the Solar System. An average trip

between Sol and Alpha Centauri

now takes 9 days.

2713- The I.S.S. Wright Brothers,

on assignment in the 18 Scorpii

system detects radio wave signals

emanating from a point

approximately .7 light years

outside the system. Post-

Decryption analysis indicates that

these signals were not initiated by

any known Terran Source.

2762- Test flights at the NN3866-

Skalds End (Formerly H84051)

gate go disastrously wrong.

Unmanned craft abruptly cease

communication minutes after

arriving in the H84051 system.

Resolved to solve the problem, the

gate engineers equip an umanned

flight with advanced sensors tied

directly to the ships

communication array. Data sent

back to the engineers before the

ship ceased communication shows



that the ship had been engaged by

a vessel of unknown design

equipped with weaponry previously

unknown to Imperial engineers.

Imperial Fleet Test Pilot Bjorn Skald

volunteers to pilot a corvette class

vessel, the I.S.S. George Clark,

though the jump gate. Upon

Skalds arrival he detects 7 vessels

with design matching the ship that

had destroyed the earlier

unmanned flight. All 7 of the

vessels failed to return any hails

from Skald for several minutes, but

the vessels did stop their advance

on the George Clark. According to

Skalds report the vessels took an

escort formation around his craft

and led his ship to an enormous

space station orbiting around a

large moon of the systems second

planet. Skald then reports docking

at the station and disembarking

from the George Clark, Waiting at

the airlock for him was a humanoid

figure dressed in a dark

ornamented robe flanked by two 3

meter tall figures armed in massive

armor (Skalds original report is

inconclusive on this point. Lt. Skald

was unable to determine if the

figures were merely armored or if

they were actually some form of

automaton.) The robed figure then

instructed Lt. Skald that he was to

board his ship, join the ships

waiting for him in escort and

proceed to coordinates within the

system. Finally, Lt. Skald was also

instructed that he was to inform his

superiors to immediately cease

sending ships through the gate. Lt.

Skald then complied with the

figures instructions, and returned

to the NN3866 system.

2765- 2 enormous warships of

unknown design drop out of warp

in the NN3866 system. The larger

of the two ships requests a

diplomatic meeting with

representatives of the Terran

Empire. When asked by Imperial

forces to identify themselves the



larger ship replies with one word,

Human. This first official meeting

is the opening channel in what

would become the complicated

relationship between the Terran

and Mikosian Empires

2768- Gate construction ships

entering the HIP79431 (Later

renamed Hikari) system detect

unmistakable signs of intelligent,

though pre-industrial, life on

HIP79431 VI. Early attempts to

communicate with the natives

prove fruitful and a treaty is signed

between the Hikari people and

Terran Empire. The Terran Empire

will be allowed to establish

settlements on an uninhabited

continent of the planet and the

Hikari are to receive technological

assistance as well as construction

supplies.

2770- The Skalds end accords are

signed between the Terran and

Mikosian empires. The two empires

agree to a non-aggression pact and

the formalization of diplomatic

relations. The Terran Empire

agrees to abstain from entering

Mikosian territory, with the

exception of sending a single ship

annually for personnel changes at

the embassy on Mikos I. In

exchange, the Mikosian empire

agrees to establish exports to the

Terran Empire, to be denominated

solely in Terran Credits. 2771- Innovatech Laboratories

Applied Division, is founded in

Terran space by the Mikosian

empire as a condition of the Skalds

End accords.
