His family sent him to Aarau to finish high school in the Aargau cantonal school where Einstein

obtained the title of German degree in 1896, at age 16. That same year he

renounced his German citizenship.

In late 1896, at the age of 17 the young Einstein entered the Federal

Polytechnic School in Zurich, Switzerland, to study science

outside Germany, enrolling in the School of Mathematical and

scientific guidance, with the idea of studying physics.

In October 1896 he met Mileva Maric, a fellow Serb class, feminist and radical

spirit, which he loved.

In 1900 Albert graduated from the Polytechnic of Zurich, obtaining the diploma of teacher of mathematics and physics, but could not find work in college, so he worked as a tutor in Winterthur, Schaffhausen and Bern

physics

In 1901, at age 22, he got Swiss citizenship.

In May 1904, Einstein and Mileva had a son, whom they named Hans Albert Einstein. That same year he got a

permanent job in the Patent Office. Shortly after he finished his PhD thesis entitled A presenting a new

determination of molecular dimensions

In 1905, when he was an unknown young physicist employed in the Patent

Office in Bern, he published his theory of special

relativity

In 1908, at age 29, he was hired at the University of Bern, Switzerland, as a teacher and lecturer

(Privatdozent).

Einstein and Mileva had a new son, Edward, born July 28, 1910. Shortly after the family moved to Prague, where Einstein

became Assistant Professor of Theoretical Physics, equivalent to Professor at the

German University in Prague . At this time he worked closely with Marcel Grossmann

and Otto Stern.

In 1915 he presented the theory of general relativity, which

reformulated the whole concept of gravity.

*On February 14, 1919, at age 39, he divorced Mileva, after a

marriage of 16 years * On June 2, 1919, he married a cousin, Elsa Loewenthal, whose

maiden name was Einstein.

For their explanation of the photoelectric effect and his numerous contributions to

theoretical physics in 1921 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics

On 16 April 1955, Albert Einstein experienced internal bleeding caused by

the rupture of an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta, which had previously

been reinforced surgically by Dr. Rudolph Nissen in 1948. Einstein died in Princeton Hospital early of April 18,

1955 at the age of 76.
