Project

We have faced some challenges due to weather conditions and the quality of the water. We are working on overcoming some hurdles that are not unmanageable. We have been blessed with a very stable process over all and we foresee that will be stable until the end of the cycle.

We are developing the project by phases. We want to have solid roots as we work with fish in order to add the hydroponics to the process.

The tilapia project started its first cycle on October 2, 2017, we got 10,000 young stock divided in 5,000 per water tank. The young stock was donated by a local company that does aquaculture cultivating fish seed (tilapia and shrimp).

As we have moved forward we are having satisfactory process. The development of the fish has been good, we just started our 7 week of this cycle. The cycle will end on March 2, 2018.

There’s a few things that we need to improve:

Project

A system that reduces the intensity of solar light. This will help to reduce the temperature in very hot days, this will also reduce the excess of algae in the water. The system is simple – a net that provide shade over the water tanks.

A tank to store residual waters. This water will be used to irrigate crops during the summer. We will store the water that we drain from the tilapia ponds to water gardens and crops within the Development Center.
