Tiger Golf Classic
In Loving Memory of Sister Aline Dalton
Submitted by Loretto Community
Born in Kansas City on April 16, 1918, Mary Catherine Dalton joined the Loretto Communi-
ty in June, 1939. Sister Aline passed away February 11, 2011.
Sr. Aline taught at St. Mary’s High School in Colorado Springs for ten years, from 1954-
1964. In 1958 she was appointed principal of the high school and superior of the communi-
ty. After a year in Santa Fe, she arrived at Holy Family High School as principal and supe-
rior of the community serving from 1965 to June, 1970.
Following ten years of various services to the Loretto Community, Sr. Aline returned to Ho-
ly Family High School in 1989 for one year as bookkeeper and business manager. After a
sabbatical she returned to perform clerical and alumni work at the school.
During her time at Holy Family, she
established the Sister Aline Dalton
Tiger Golf Classic tournament
which provides tuition assistance to
HFHS students. In 1996, she estab-
lished the Sisters of Loretto Golf
Tournament to benefit the Retire-
ment Fund for the Loretto Sisters.
Both annual golf tournaments are
still very successful.
One of Sister Aline’s formers students wrote: “Sister Aline represented a positive authority
figure, who was able to be both strict and supportive at the same time, an often difficult bal-
ance to achieve. Through her personal efforts, patience, sincere concern, and strong lead-
ership, Sister Aline set a positive course for students who could not possibly have immedi-
ately understood the impact that she would ultimately have on their lives. I am one of those
students.”
“For the majority of my classmates, those years represented a critical time of meaningful
personal development, an affirmation of their individual capabilities, and an opportunity to
begin charting the course they would follow for the rest of their lives…Fortunately for me
and others during that time, Sister Aline would not give up. She was strict in her discipline,
consistent in her approach, and unwavering in the confidence she demonstrated in us. In
truth she had more confidence in us than we did in ourselves. We were blessed.”

Be a part of history!
For the first time in its
88 years of operation,
Holy Family High
School will have its
very own concession
stand. Gone are the years of using the facilities of other schools, the back ends
of station wagons and vans and backyard sheds. Outhouses at athletic and
community events will be a thing of the past. Through the generous donations
to the Fund-A-Need at our 2011 Gala, along with those of our community
members, we plan to break ground on our new concession/restroom facility
during the summer of 2011. A special plaque will be made that will hang on
the concession/restroom facility to recognize all those who have helped to
make this addition to Holy Family’s campus a reality. Please contact Martin
Barrett for donation opportunities at [email protected]
