textbooks, educational supplies or housing for their post-secondary education. Students must have

MARANA TIGERS HELPING OUR COMMUNITY
This year’s Adopt-a-Family project has been a wonderful success! Key Club, Link Crew and Student
Council joined together again to make sure that some of our local families in need get some extra help this
holiday season. Everyone on campus helped to make sure we were successful.
Link crew presented lessons to Freshmen in their FSA classes and “adopted” 17 of our 37 kids. They
raised money, gifts and food. Over $1000 was raised by student council to fill in where needed. And $400
was donated for holiday dinners. Classes competed in the Canned food drive and we were amazed at the
results. It was the most successful in years. The winner – Mr. Ruff and his students brought in 3980
nonperishable food items. The runner up was Mr. Shellouf and his students with an amazing 3329. Mr.
McManus and his students came in third with 689. Many classes brought in less but when we add it all up
that is 10,000 food items for our local families!!! We made up food boxes for the families our school
adopted and then the rest will be picked up by the Marana Community Food Bank on Monday, 12/15.
We are delivering gifts, food boxes and turkey dinners to 14 families next week (37 local elementary and
middle school kids). These are children that will one day soon be MHS students.
Every year we are humbled and amazed at the generosity of our teachers, staff, students and parents. This
would not be possible without everyone working together. We are blessed to be a part of this very special
MHS community!
Thank you all so much,
Key Club, Link Crew and Student Council

We had some successes and defeats this past week, but there is definite growth in our
programs. Our Tiger athletes are changing the Culture of Marana Athletics by putting in
the hard work and Commitment with their teammates. These Tigers practice and play
games several days a week in effort to be more Competitive than ever. I am extremely
proud of our Tigers for their drive and desire to be better as athletes and individuals.
TIGER PRIDE!!!
Recruiting and NCAA Seminar 7:00 PM at Marana High School - On January 14th,
2015, we will have a representative from Dynamite Sports coming to educate families on
what it takes to participate in athletics after high school. Mr. Jeff Benson will provide
parents and athletes with the necessary academics and athletics information needed for
your Tiger to be recruited into a college. Parents must come with their athlete.
During this holiday time, I am more aware of how privileged I am to serve this community.
These young men and women are wonderful individuals who I am fortunate to work for. I
hope to see you at the Tiger Pride stadium and gym!
