• Tiffany Jane Brand (@tiffanybrandlib) was the 2009-2011 University of Pittsburgh University Library System Diversity Fellow as well as a librarian in the Reference and Instruction and Special Collections departments at the University.

• Tiffany received her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, after five years working in academic and public libraries. Her work and research includes digital rights management in libraries and archives, distance education, and the use of emerging technologies in cultural institutions. She is the manager for the Careers in Federal Libraries (@CareersFedLib) Twitter page.

Job Searching in Twitter

Basic Search

• Use quotes or exact phrasing.

• Type From:Smithsonian to bring back all tweets sent from Smithsonian.

• Enter@Smithsonian to bring back all tweets that mention Smithsonian, including job list mentions.

Advanced Search

• Use keywords or Boolean.

• With advanced twitter searching you can narrow down your job search to a geographic area.

Promoting Your Work

• Optimal tweets: short opinion

and link to work or article (podcast, video, etc.) related to library industry.

• Add relevant hashtags to make sure tweet is seen in multiple channels. Ex. #archives #socialmedia
