IntroductionTidal energy is created through the use of large underwater turbines that use the kinetic energy of the tides to produce power.Tidal energy comes from the energy of the strong ocean tides.

Page 3: Tidal Energy

ProblemWe capture this energy by placing turbines in tidal streams to capture the kinetic energy of the of the tides.

Page 4: Tidal Energy

MaterialsCurrently there are three types of ways to get tidal energy: Tidal streams, barrages, and tidal lagoons. For most Tidal energy generators, turbines are placed in tidal streams.

Page 5: Tidal Energy

DataUsing this form of energy is obviously free, but the generators and turbines used to extract the energy can be costly. It depends on which generators or turbines are used to determine how much it costs.

Application Tidal energy is not being used widely now, but there is hope to use it to produce electricity. The goal is to reduce the impact other electricity sources have on the environment.

Tidal energy is used to create hydropower using the energy of the tides to generate electricity. Much like hydropower from rivers and streams, tidal energy is used in locations near oceans and seas. Although not yet widely used, historically there are and have been tidal mills located in Europe, as well as Atlantic coastal areas of North America.

Conclusion Benefits-

1. Tidal turbines are located beneath the ocean surface and can’t be seen or heard. 2. Since water is 830 times denser than air meaning that, for a given electricity output. Tidal turbines can be much smaller than equal wind turbines.

Page 8: Tidal Energy

ConclusionOn the downside, because the exchange of water between a basin and the sea is reduced, more pollution will accumulate in the water.Even with the best barrages, only a small percentage of fish can make it through the barrages
