The Release Notes for this product version are provided to inform you of new features, known issues,and issues from previous releases that have been closed.

These release notes are for TIBCO® Data Virtualization version 7.0.8. They cover Linux® and MicrosoftWindows® installations. They include information about the server, data source, and client.

New FeaturesThe following features have been added to version 7.0.8 of TIBCO Data Virtualization.

Server Updates

Feature Description

Faster Cluster Join Operation A new cluster node join operation has been introduced todrastically speed up the cluster join operation. This is a keybenefit for large deployments (thousands to millions of resourcesper node) when nodes need to be added quickly.

Constrained DelegationSupport for JDBC Driver

Client applications using kerberos with the JDBC driver can nowenable constrained delegation.

Data Source Updates

Feature Description

New IBM DB2 LUW V11Adapter

Support for DB2 LUW v11 has been added. All levels of supporthave been updated (data source, cache, data ship and kerberos).

New IBM DB2 z/OS v11Adapter

Support for DB2 z/OS v11 as a data source has been added.

Microsoft SQL Server Updates For SQL Server versions 2012 and higher, the query engine willpush OFFSET and FETCH functions.

Hive and Impala Updates A new query engine capability for "IN clause" has been added forImpala/Hive adapters.

Feature Description

Microsoft Power BI Support Support for Power BI Desktop with 'import mode' only has beenenabled tested against the PowerBI generic ODBC source with theTDV ODBC driver.

New Lineage API for DataSource Information

A new system API has been enabled that shows the underlyingdata source platform of published tables. For federated publishedtables this will be blank. For pass through scenarios, this willshow the data source platform so that client applications canoptimize SQL and function support.

TIBCO Jaspersoft® Advanced Data Services License RestrictionsIf you are licensing TIBCO® Data Virtualization as TIBCO Jaspersoft® Advanced Data Services, you canpublish views from all supported data sources to TIBCO Jaspersoft® via JDBC, ODBC and ADO.NET.

Use of the business directory or clustering requires a full license to TIBCO Data Virtualization. A fullTIBCO Data Virtualization license is also required for publishing views as web services or to clients thatare not Jaspersoft®.

TIBCO Spotfire® Advanced Data Services License RestrictionsIf you are licensing TIBCO Data Virtualization as TIBCO Spotfire® Advanced Data Services, you canpublish views from all supported data sources to TIBCO Spotfire® via JDBC, ODBC and ADO.NETexcept the following which are sold as separate license add-ons.

A log file now is created and populated when you use theMongoDb adapter.

CIS-68573 Security, Server -Cluster

Security Groups no longer are dropped during clusterpropagation.

CIS-68660 UI - Studio REST data source Design By Example now changes the datatype of the OUT parameter if there are multiple parameters.

CIS-68813 Server - Cluster Each node in cluster now displays the correct status.

Schema generation from sample XML no longer createsincorrect schema if "choice" is detected (using the new Saxonschema generator).

CIS-69881 Server, Server -Cluster

Cluster object replication now works when a CJP is configuredwith an invalid URL.

CIS-69897 Server - QueryEngine

Data Ship plan no longer changes an alias, which created aninvalid query.

CIS-69948 UI - Studio User Relationships no longer disappear from the Modelresource after you close and then re-open it.


The generated SQL is now correct when you modify joinproperties in the Model tab.

CIS-70114 Server - QueryEngine

The query engine no longer generates a duplicate WITH clausefor SQL Server fetches.

CIS-70287 Server The prefetch queue no longer becomes unresponsive norretains memory with a Tableau request.

CIS-70379 Driver - ODBC The timestamp msec portion is no longer getting truncated withcertain ODBC settings.


The following invalid connection error related to theConnection Pool has been fixed.

Failed to activate object from pool. The object

will be abandoned.


The IN clause is now pushed in a Group By for Teradata 15.

CIS-70499 Server - SOA An empty response in JSON is now formatted consistentlybetween CIS 7.0.4 and 7.0.6.00.02

CIS-70551 Server - SOA The REST data source has been fixed to handle XMLdeclaration and remove the UTF-8 BOM.

CIS-70573 Server - SOA REST Adapter: Parameters are properly ordered when BODY-Output is not the last or final parameter in the list.

CIS-70624 Server - Metrics Resources can no longer be published in the /system/metricsschema.

CIS-70680 Server - DataSources, Server -Query Engine

A performance issue after TIBCO Data Virtualization upgradeto 7.0.6HF2 has been fixed.

CIS-70702 Driver - JDBC Introspection is no longer throwing an exception for thecustom Qubole adapter, column numbers are set properly.

CIS-70748 Server Calling ALL_RESOURCES in an SQL Script multiple times nolonger results in an error.


The special characters { and } in XML file names no longercauses an error for an Any to Any transformation.

CIS-70773 UI - Studio Users from different groups can now modify views in theModel tab and SQL tab in Studio.

CIS-70803 Security The Strict-Transport-Security HTTP Header has been added onport 9402.


The OAuth refresh token for Marketo now works correctly.

CIS-70949 Server - QueryEngine, UI -Studio

Column annotations are maintained properly when columnsare dropped and re-added.

CIS-71078 Install When you install the TIBCO Data Virtualization 7.0.7 on aLinux operating system, the setup no longer displays garbagecharacters.

CIS-71158 Install Stopping or starting the CIS/BD server from the Windows Startmenu works with the full installer. It does not work with theTIBCO Data Virtualization patch upgrade. The installer mustbe run using admin credentials.

Startup and Shutdown can be done using the WindowsServices user interface.

CIS-71191 Install The following error message in the pqslqupgrade.out logwhen upgrading from 7.0.6.00.01 has been fixed.Checking cluster versions ok Checking database user is the install user database user "root" is not the install user Failure, exiting

Known issuesThis section lists known issues in version 7.0.8 of TIBCO Data Virtualization.


CIS-70946 Install Linux instances in the 'US/Pacific' time zone that have the'US/Pacific-New' time zone data installed may have TIBCOData Virtualization Monitor Daemon startup issues.

Workaround

Modify INSTALL_DIR/bin/composite.sh in the runmonitorfunction by adding the following line in the start section beforethe first echo statement."export TZ='America/Los_Angeles'"

You might encounter parsing errors with HBase against booleanvalue columns.

Workaround

To avoid these issues, set the RowScanDepth higher .

CIS-71015 Server - Cluster Cluster Sync: Wrong prompts appear during join cluster whenCopy Repository Database For Cluster Join is set to trueon master node and set to false on the slave node.


Oracle and Sybase drivers are not shipped out of the box startingwith TIBCO Data Virtualization 7.0.7.

See the TIBCO® Data Virtualization Administration Guide version7.0.8 for information about where to obtain those drivers.

CIS-71109 Documentation On Redhat and CentOS, AD 2003 servers with ssl cannot beadded as an TIBCO Data Virtualization LDAP domain unless3DES_EDE_CBC is enabled.

See the TIBCO® Data Virtualization Administration Guide version7.0.8 for how to re-enable TIBCO Data Virtualization to allowusage of this particular LDAP server version.

CIS-71182 Install Downgrading TIBCO Data Virtualization Server does notredeploy older adapters in the /packages directory. If you aredowngrading your TIBCO Data Virtualization Server, you mustundeploy manually any adapters located under INSTALL_DIR/packages that your server uses, and then redeploy them, fromcommand line on the server:

1. After downgrade, re-apply the patch or hotfix that matchesthe version to which you want to downgrade.

2. Start the TIBCO Data Virtualization Server.

3. Run the command line script "server_util.bat/sh -undeploy -name package name -version version" #

undeploy upgraded adapter.

4. Run the command line script "server_util.bat/sh -deploy -package package file in file system -

checksum algorithm/hex-bytes" # deploys new patch/hotfix adapter version you downgraded to.

the package name and version are the adapter nameand version you upgraded to. The file location of theadapters you have from your upgrade process arelocated under INSTALL_DIR/packages. For example:cd INSTALL_DIR./bin/server_util.sh -undeploy -name "Email" -version 1 -server localhost -port 9400 -user admin -password admin./bin/server_util.sh -deploy -package packages/archived_ds_adapters/email-0602.jar -checksum md5/4ccbee2a2e08970cacae3f54a9d2ac26 -server localhost -port 9400 -user admin -password admin


For DB2 LUW v11: DB2’s STDDEV implementation is differentfrom TIBCO Data Virtualization STDDV implementation. InTIBCO Data Virtualization, use STDDV_POP to match the DB2implementation.

CIS-71278 Server - Cluster When using the new fast join option for cluster synchronization,the joined node inherits the admin credentials of the node itjoined.


Access to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access using JDBC nolonger works due to the deprecation of the ODBC-JDBC bridgestarting in the Oracle JRE 1.8 release. There is no currentworkaround, except to use a different data source.

This issue will exist for any TIBCO Data VirtualizationServer instance that has upgraded to 7.0.7 or higher.

CIS-67765 SNMP traps contained more varbinds than were listed in the MIB.

CIS-68754 Quotes in passwords caused issues connecting to VCS for both GIT and SVN.

CIS-68762 Query for Statistics gathering was changed to "count_big" for SQL Server.

CIS-68847 The following Jackson Vulnerabilities were addressed: CVE-2017-7525, CVE-2017-15095.

CIS-68951 The following performance enhancement was made: Oracle 11g/12c - changedfetch_size from 0 to 1000.

CIS-68962 Versions 7.0.5 and 7.0.6 installs, patches, and hotfixes should not have had a RedshiftJDBC driver.

CIS-68993 The exception Packet size (2186) is > maximum size (1300) was generatedwhen TIBCO Data Virtualization sent long SQL text in an SNMP trap.

CIS-69075 TIBCO Data Virtualization did not close the session when the browser was closed(without logout).

CIS-69259 GreenPlum pushdown capability mappings have been updated to support many morefunctions. Please see documentation for a complete list.

CIS-69705 In the TIBCO® Data Virtualization Reference Guide, we have formally documented andnow support {OPTION disable_selection_rewriter} SELECT Query Hint.

CIS-69886 There was a discrepancy in sorting order of the NULL values in version 7.0.6.

CIS-69961 In version 7.0.6, view execution failed with invalid column name, butit ran correctlyin version 6.2 and 7.0.3.00.11.

CIS-69966 TIBCO Data Virtualization was unable to introspect an Oracle 12 table containing aninvisible column.

CIS-70059 TIBCO Data Virtualization incorrectly handled new lines in an Excel (non-ODBC) datasource.

CIS-70506 A SECURITY header has been added on the TIBCO Data Virtualization jetty server toaddress a vulnerability.
