Every year thousands of humpback whales pass through The Silver Bank, in the Dominican Republic, a breeding and calving zone. This is whale watching at its best.

UNPARALLELED ACCESSNowhere else has as large a seasonal population of humpback whales in the North Atlantic Ocean. You will have the rare chance to get up close and personal with the creatures, nicknamed ‘acrobats of the sea’ thanks to their penchant for breaching, lob tailing, fin slapping and spy hopping, and learn about their behaviour from the dedicated naturalist who will accompany the trip. You will spend time alongside these gentle giants and experience the breathtaking mammals from a point of view most can only dream about.

DAY 02 - 04SILVER BANKEnjoy meaningful encounters with the magnificent humpback whales that have descended on the area from the closest perspective imaginable. The dedicated naturalist will be there to explain the whales’ behaviour you witness while the professional photographer will capture their magic so you can focus on the moment. Head back to TIARA where you can swap stories about the day’s sights, perhaps in the cosy Bedouin tent on deck, cocktail in hand.

DAY 01SILVER BANKAfter a short drive to the marina you will board Y NUT COCONUT, a luxury sports fishing boat, which will transport you to stunning sailing yacht TIARA which will already be in situ, at anchor at Silver Bank. The journey will take approximately 3 hours and you will be able to enjoy refreshments as you make your way to TIARA. Y NUT COCONUT will act as the chase boat for the rest of the trip.

DAY 05PUERTO PLATAAs the old adage goes all good things must come to an end. Day 05 sees you return to the coast. Drink in the last few hours of heavenly Caribbean scenery as you cruise back to the Dominican coast. The crew will ensure your safe arrival back to the airport.

MORE ABOUT HUMPBACK WHALESThe Silver Bank is where females calve. Calves are typically around 4m in length with the average life span of a humpback at somewhere between 80 and 90 years. This is also where the whales breed. At this time of year you will see a great deal of action above the surface of the water and hear extraordinary vocal stylings as the rowdy males vie for the attention of the females within range. Known for their complex and haunting songs, the whales’ imaginative compositions can last up to 20 minutes. Watch out for the violent expulsions of air from the blowholes – at a speed of over 300 miles an hour!

TIARA

INTERIORThe spacious yacht features an art deco interior with genuine 1930s details and sophisticated styling by John Munford, accommodating up to 10 guests. The full beam master suite is split-level and features a private salon, a lobby and a large bathroom while the guest cabins can be flexibly arranged depending on your group’s make up. The interior is characterised by flamed mahogany, leather, lacquer and tasteful sculptures.

DECK SPACESHaving spent all day extraordinarily close to migrating whales at The Silver Bank you can choose to let off steam with a party on deck, using the DJ set up, or why not get cosy in the bedouin tent to watch a movie? Alternatively, soak in the hot tub and enjoy a sundowner in front of a glorious Dominican sunset. TIARA’s decks offer everything you need for all kinds of entertainment plus ample alfresco dining and sunbathing or shaded options.

BAREFOOT LUXURYThe laid-back luxury the longstanding crew provides is the perfect tone for guests looking for a relaxed, faultless, and memorable charter. Enjoy first-class food prepared by the fabulous onboard chef and reminisce about the sights of the day under the Caribbean moonlight. MASTER SUITEThe master cabin is spread over two levels: a private petit salon on the main deck leads down to a lobby, bathroom and enormous full-width bedroom. Home cinema system with huge plasma screen in the bedroom.

CHASE BOATShuttle to TIARA, your 54.3m home for the trip, on board Y NUT COCONUT, a compact, spunky, 22m sports-fisher chase boat. Fast but luxurious, Y NUT COCONUT will transport you from the Cafresi Marina in the Dominican Republic to the anchorage of TIARA in Silver Bank in addition to serving as a tender for the entirety of the trip.

PRICING & BOOKING

TOTAL CHARTER FEE 170,000 EUR + 20% APAThe expedition cost is based on 5 nights on board TIARA. Up to 10 + 2 guests in 5 suites.

INCLUSIONSBoat charter; Y NUT COCONUT as a tender; permits; guides; excursions; print quality images documenting your highlights from the expedition; transfers to / from airport; meals & refreshments; use of all water sports equipment.

EXCLUSIONSInternational or domestic airfare; visas (if needed); airport departure fees; travel, medical or cancellation insurance; telecommunication costs for satellite phone & email charges; repositioning fees; and all government taxes.

THE ADVANCED PURCHASING ALLOWANCE (APA)The APA will cover fuel and any additional food and alcohol costs. A discretionary end-of-trip crew gratuity can be given from the APA. Between 10-20% of the charter fee is advised. Any surplus after expenses is refunded to you.
