Sharing anecdotes and examples from her twenty-one-year history with the organization, Smythe will examine the factors that have contributed to the organization’s success. 1:30 pm - 3 pm Session I Panel Presentation: ‘Artist and Curatorial Residencies’ OAC 121, Main Ballroom Panelists: Leslie Moody Castro, Barbara Frey, Jill Foote-Hutton, Merrie Wright Panel Moderator: Merrie Wright Are you curious about studio art and curatorial residencies? Panelists will provide a short presentation reviewing their own experience with residencies. Topics of discussion will include the purpose of a residency, types of residencies, how to find residency opportunities, the residency selection process, as well as how to start your own residency program. Topical Session: ‘Academic Professions: Working at a Two-Year College’ OAC 121, Room A Presenter: Larry Kitchen Session Moderator: Alexis Serio Hughes Presenter Larry Kitchen will provide an overview of what working at a two-year college involves, from employment requirements, to application requirements and process, and the general responsibilities of an adjunct instructor. He will also discuss common positions that are available, and what each position entails. 3:15 - 4:30 pm Session II Panel Presentation: ‘Community Art Education & Engagement’ OAC 121, Main Ballroom Panelists: Jill Foote-Hutton and Michelle Smythe Panel Moderator: Elizabeth Lisot-Nelson Community art education and engagement is central to the programming offered by most community art galleries and centers. Panelist will provide an overview of the types of programming this might entail, and will discuss how the respective institutions they have worked for connect with the communities they serve to create a valuable learning experience.
