About The Tre atment Centre

At the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre we work with the most vulnerable youth in our communities, saving lives and giving them, and their families hope for a better future. We are the only non-profit residential treatment centre in Ontario for English-speaking youth, aged 13 – 21 suffering from complex concurrent addictions and mental illness. We have been operating out of temporary locations since 2010, but these facilities are inadequate, limiting our ability to meet their needs. The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre Foundation supports the Centre’s fundraising needs. Currently, the Foundation is raising $4.5M to build a new facility that will integrate all treatment in one location. The new building will allow the Centre to increase their services to more youth and their families — helping to heal more young lives and repair families.

Kids deserve no less than the best that we can give them to have a chance at a better life. It is time to build the facility they need, to give them the opportunities they deserve.

The time has come for Dave’s Dream to become reality. Over more than two decades, we’ve saved the lives of thousands of kids, returning them to their families and a happy, healthy life. But we’ve done this in spite of our facilities: three different locations – one each for boys, girls and administration – set up to quickly fill the need. Adequate for the interim, these non-ideal spaces lend nothing to our healing efforts. And the ~60 km distance between each hurts our efficiency as an organization.

What we’ve needed all along is Dave’s Dream: a single, comfortable, home-like space, built to respond to our individualized, whole-person, life-skills approach.
